On Facebook Gearhead Hobbies they are live streaming Sat and Sunday El Mirage this weekend. Now.
-
Just have to give a big THANK YOU to anyone who was involved with the Gearhead Hobbies live feed from El Mirage. The coverage was great!
Steve.

Big Time Kudos to the crew at Gear head Hobbies. This is exactly what the sport needs, we have sponsors & friends that just can't make the meet(s). This is perfect!
Would be great if SCTA put a link on the web site.
Thanks to all the Gear Heads,
Chris

Live streaming this Sunday starts at 7
either SCTA face book, or YouTube.
Pretty cool for those that can't make it.

Stuck on the East Coast, but will be watching YouTube live from ElMo. Thanks to all that make it possible. Go team Woody’s Aermacchi, set another 350 pushrod record.
-
Don't you mean low hanging M frame record?

Possibly, but I know what he puts into the bike AND he has multiple A class records with it that we’re not low hanging fruit. And FWIW, no shame in taking a soft record, someone has to.

Anyone know the YouTube link for today's meet?
NOT the Facebook link, please.

The shame lies in setting a minimum at a ridiculous low.

Was just having this discussion the other day. I have run on some "easy" records. I would't brag about an easy record I set. Now regardless of the minimum if you put up a big "relative" record then sure be proud. But El Mirage and low minimum/points is another discussion. But an open record at bville where essentially you get a participation award...

I do agree the minimums were set quite low. When I decided to run last year, I was assuming I'd run A. Then they announced the M classes, without announcing the minimums. I looked around at the Bonneville records in my displacement classes (and ElMo in P and A) and assumed they would set the minimum near these existing records. In my class anyway, they set it 20 lower than what I thought. Not my fault, and I beat it by 12 so I'm fine with it.
Only reason to set them that low I figure is to increase entries and generate income. New to LSR, but I roadraced for 18 years. When an organization adds a bunch of classes, invariably it is to generate revenue. With Bonneville teetering on the brink of extinction, and Bonneville being the source of most of SCTA's income, it was only a matter of time. Plus I'm told those folks that used to run at Bonneville in the motorcycle M classes would now show up at ElMo and be forced into A when they were not really legal (some not easy to field implement rule differences). You seem to be an old timer, surely you are not threatened by the addition of 300+ motorcycle records? There is no shortage of car classes I do believe. Winners of points from these new classes cant win the points championships but I do suppose they mess up the line up order. Seems like an issue for the SCTA.

Yah Dan is a bit of an old timer... look him up. lol

Just a personal point of view. Not a bike racer but I 50+ years in on the car side and done a crap load of jobs.
No problem here,
