you go to tech first and fill out a form. once approved you go to registration. If you want to save a few moments for the next event, take a 2nd form from tech and fill it out at home for the next event.

They already have my medical form as I have entered for Speedweek. We are going to El Mirage to test and so I can get seat time in the car. We have made lots of updates to 7707 and I am really excited about getting in the car to get the first pass in this year.

At El Mirage you have to turn in a new medical form at each meet.
A, to be sure it's current and B, The form goes to the emergency response team for that meet, it isn't held on file.

. . . and now bring another $10 for each driver's new personal Log Book -- in addition to the vehicle's.

To get to be an SCTA member you must be an SCTA club member first. You may be confusing BNI membership with SCTA. For a higher fee and no possibility of setting records you can run as a guest.

Simple then. Best I just turn up and see what happens.

You might want to check in with rookie rules and limitations on guest runs. Make sure you will get enough runs as a guest to get through the rookie procedure and do what you want. to test.

For us this really is a test session. Not interested in records ..just getting seat time as 7707 is very different to my last drive. I am a gold member so I need to check what we had included as part of gold membership.

It has been some time for me. But I think there are some limits on how many runs a guest gets and the speeds for your rookie runs. Or you could always pull a "Dalton".

"Is this new?  El Mirage only?"

No.

I understand that the book hasn't been printed yet, let alone distributed.  It will be available pre-registration at El Mirage.  I understand it contains sections for both Bonneville and El Mirage.  Part of its purpose is to document a driver's experience at the two venues.

Guests are limited to the number of events they may drive at, not the number of runs they can make during any one event.  A BNI membership has no standing whatsoever at El Mirage.  Also, med forms are no longer required monthly.  Believe they keep them filed annually now.

If it's just about seat time, I recommend visiting El Mirage during the week. If you arrive at dawn, you'll have the whole place to yourself.
Plus, no tech inspection, no arm restraint discussion, no fees, (except to the BLM), no rookie orientation, no driver's meeting, no endless wait in pre-stage with your very high line-up number.

And no safety support crew.  Back when we were still having handling problems with the roadster we went out to do some testing early on an off weekend.  The handling problem appeared to be gone at lower speed so I upped the speed and wound up spinning at about 175 mph.  Went back and checked the tire tracks and I literally slid around a 3 foot long, 2 foot wide, 1 foot deep sink hole in the lakebed.  :-o We had walked our test course and never even came across this sink hole because it was way off in the distance.  Needless to say, had I hit that sink hole, very bad things would have happened.  That was the last time we went testing on an off weekend at El Mirage.  YRMV.

Great idea but I would prefer a safety crew in attendance.
