Title: Classification Assisteance for my bike
Post by: Claybuster84 on February 19, 2018, 11:15:49 AM
Guys, running a 1974 Hona flat tracker in a 250 class but having trouble determining frame class...

It is a monoshock frame built by Cheney Engineering for the Honda, originally built as a motocross frame in the early 70's and converted to run flat track by Cheney Engineering.

I have a stock Honda frame I can switch to but basically what classification would the frame fall in? would this be considered production as it was sold by them and not home built?

Don't give me too much grief please I am a newbie :)

I would say with the Cheney frame - special construction - A class.

With the Honda frame - modified production.

Just my opinion, Don

The stock frame would run in modified assuming you do not extend the swingarm more than 10%.  Take a close look at the rule book and the class records, as you will be running against some very fast two-stroke records.  The modified record is 137 without any bodywork and the altered class will be 142.  If you run a fairing, both will be in the mid 150s.
