Title: Scoops, injector, etc. outside of roll cage?
Post by: Jack Gifford on November 12, 2017, 11:40:31 PM
The prior owner of my lakester used a port-injector system, but my engine will have a blower/injector/scoop that will extend somewhat above the existing roll cage and body. In another thread I stated that I intend to assure that the little gasoline primer tank is inside the cage. But what about the injector with its alky system- nozzles, hoses, barrel valve, etc.? Have I missed a rulebook section that clarifies these requirements?

Nope... when your motor quits the pump will stop pumping...

If damage were at or before the barrel valve a lot of alcohol could get pumped (or drained) before the pump quits turning. :-o
I tend toward modifying the cage to minimize such potential.

I run a mech. Pump on my EFI’d RMR with a electric primer pump. Now I need to have both an electrical shut off and a mechanical shut off. I didn’t think I needed a roll over switch on the primer pump. The tech guys didn’t quite know how to respond but I’ll put the switch in to save the trouble.

If your primer pump is on a momentary switch, that should satisfy the rule.
