Title: Anyone use Suzuki coolant?
Post by: NathanStewart on September 05, 2017, 03:35:20 PM
Not directly race related.... replaced the radiator on my SV1000 after my unplanned meeting with the 405 concrete back in February.  Drained the coolant and it came out a very dark wintergreen color.  Doesn't look like typical automotive glycol based green coolant that we're all used to seeing.  It honestly looked more like Simple Green than regular "radioactive green" antifreeze. I'm guessing this is the original OEM Suzuki coolant.  I'd like to not risk coolant compatibility issues by switching to something else and would like to replace it with the same thing.  This is my first water cooled bike and my first Suzuki - can anyone confirm if this is OEM Suzuki coolant?  I've found a couple pics online that also show this very dark colored coolant in other Suzukis but no real definitive answers.

Thanks in advance.

My 2012 DL1000 has blue coolant. I don't know what it is, but I've added water to it with no apparent ill effect.

Nathan, most coolant now is compatible with engine systems made with multiple metals... I put generic coolant in my bikes.... no issues.... I don't think you will have trouble adding or mixing....  The green seems to be the most common, I would not worry about it.
