Title: Texas Blizzard (a/k/a Hurricane Harvey rains)
Post by: Seldom Seen Slim on August 28, 2017, 07:23:35 PM
I got a message from Johnnie Rouse (in Brazoria, Texas, the caller ID says!) telling me that they haven't floated away - but that the wildfire danger is pretty low today.  They're all okay - and I'm gonna call him back now just to shoot the breeze.  I'll letcha know if there's anything worth knowing.

Let's see -- first of all it's Angleton, Texas.  The caller ID says Brazoria but I think that's just a ruse.

Second of all, Johnnie and Connie and those folks are fine and the water isn't threatening them.  Johnnie says the water will accumulate in ditches near them, but when the rain slackens for an hour or two the water drains.  No issues.

Not so for Jim Webb - Chock Full 'Nuts Racing.  His place is right in line with the storm, Johnnie, says, and it's iffy if he's gonna have water in the yard - or the house.

And so it goes.  I asked Johnnie and he confirmed that he's not gonna have to water the garden or the lawn for at least a couple of days.

Our thoughts are with our Texas friends. From the land of frequent hurricanes. Fort Lauderdale, FL

We have sand bagged several times. Good luck and take care.

The amount of time that it is going to take all this water to get to the sea is going to be a while there will be flooding for a while.... Now we know why there is an old blues song---There Is Flooding Down in Texas and all of the Telephone Lines are Down!
