Anyone have info on the new 30" Goodyears?
-
If those are the ones Strasburg was running on the lakester, they were good for one run each. Saw them after both the down run and the return run, they were shredded.
-
All tires will shred on the salt if you overpower the traction and spin them.... rough courses are prone to promote spinning when the tires are off the ground....
-
Yeah, a 5 mile burnout on a 40-grit course will do that!

Where can I find info on these tires? I googled but didnt come up with anything new.
-
I think I'd start here with a phone call -

Did they look like this?

Strasburgs ran the new goodyears and M/T on 2 separate runs both at 344 MPH. In my opinion the Goodyears looked better with blistering of the rubber on the contact area, where the Mickeys had shredded cord in several placed. I saw no cord showing on the goodyears just some weird blistering. I believe the goodyear engineer took them back for evaluation.

Thanks for the info

Anybody know what the speed rating is on the 30" Goodboots? I don't see anything on the web sight.
Sid.

Treit and Davenport had the new Goodyears
that were provided directly by Goodyear.
Unfortunately they have only about one
mile on them since we broke our drive train.
As i recall there were about 4 sets of them
on the salt. Maybe I can add some more info
soon.

Sid the goodyear guy said they were rated for 320mph
-
I heard that private testing went way above 320.
I was also told that Goodyear used Michelin's
tire dyno. I guarantee You Treit and Davenport
would not have run the tires with a 320 MPH
rating.
Just search what I said. It's only a guide and I'm
not the one that pays the bills.
We want to Thank Goodyear for providing the
tires and we are embarrassed that we didn't
go faster than we did. So far we call every
run "testing."

Goodyear guy on the salt told me they where virtually
identical to the Mickey's. I have some on order
-
Brian, did they give You any idea what the price range might be? I don't even know what the Mickey's are now. I bought two pair about ten years ago for around $3500 including freight. Not bad for rented tires... Bob :-P
-
$720. At the bottom of the link click on "select a class".

Little tough to find much traction at 3" tread width. Wonder how much that increases with a lot of weight?
My Dunlops will work for me.
