Title: Dr. Dean Hill originator of fuel checking process has passed
Post by: Harold Bettes on August 24, 2017, 04:27:34 PM
To All,

Dr. Dean Hill has passed away. The racing community has lost a great contributor to all who have learned from him about the wonderful chemistry of nitromethane and other fuels.

Dean was a personal friend and mentor for many of my generation and will be sorely missed . Dr. Dean taught chemistry and mechanical engineering and he taught about chemistry of the air and chemistry of the various fuels as he also taught the chemistry of life itself way above the collegiate level and with great humor.

He taught me about fuels and explosives and the importance of maintaining relationships with people beyond chemistry.

He loved Bonneville and drag racing and was the originator of the fuel checking process of NHRA. RIP Dean!

I have no information at this time concerning funeral arrangements, etc.

Regards to All Gearheads,
