Title: Leaf spring forks
Post by: Trikejunkie on May 19, 2017, 07:59:44 PM
Hi all , I`m coming (hopefully) in August with my vintage Indian 101/741,small question about my forks -are leaf spring forks allowed ? I have a large friction damper so they are damped ( ie no bouncing)and a friction damper on the steering too ,I`ve read the rule book and it doesn`t say it isn`t allowed ,just panicking a bit in case I got it wrong!

cheers for any advice

Considering how rough the coarse condtions were this year your suspension was an added help for sure.

A really OCD tech person might rattle the top crown to detect loose bushings for safety, but the mechanism itself is legal.

Hay - don't be too hard on the tech folks.  We commonly check for stuff like loose bearings in the top end.  Really -- 'specially on "vintage" stuff that might be questionable. . . :-D

That's called "turning your affliction into a useful tool"!
