Hey all,
I am very new to this type of racing but not racing in general. I have built stock car type chassis, formula ford, hillclimb and road racing type cars. I do have a nice little machine and fab shop.
I would love to do a scratch built type of car and I stumbled upon this forum. In the area I have a first rate VW air cooled engine builder. So, I have a few questions.
Am I understanding the rules for this class, UNLTD36, to read that any 4 wheeled vehicle is fine to run?
If I constructed a frame and body, meeting all of the safety rules, and followed the engine rules I would be good to go?
I love the idea of being able to be innovative in the fabrication department and come up with something unusual and fun.
Any helpful hints here would be awesome. As I said I am just poking around but this seems like a class I could afford and also be creative. I thanks you for your time and attention.

Jack, you may need to contact the 36 HP challenge organization for a determination of the rules they plan for 2017. Those vehicles generally run under a different set of rules than the SCTA and USFRA that most of us are familiar with.

Give Burly an e-mail. Burlybug@outlook.com
It sounds like you pretty much have the idea, but check with him as he runs the 36hp challenge and knows what is coming for 2017.

Mark,
Great and thanks. I just messaged him on FB. After reading and looking things over more closely I believe I would do better in the LAKESTER 36 division. Much more restrictive and less costly than the unlimited. I am still a little puzzled with the sanctioning body thing, it is a bit confusing for a new guy. Hopefully I can get it figured out and a car under construction. This looks like a great deal of fun!
