Folks,
This was going to take place this week, and it's now... what... Sunday??!! Well, us elves are busy this time of year..... :-D
But the big work is done, meaning making sure the backup (in case anything goes wrong, almost an impossibility, right? ) works. I was on a bike forum, it crashed, the backup didn't work, and the whole site pretty much died.
So..... here's a complete, totally independent copy of this forum, created from a backup:
http://www.landracing2.com/index.php
Note it's 'landracing2.com' and is a couple days old. If some members could copy and paste that URL into a fresh browser, then check it out, that'd be great. I thought there should be more photos, but I did find some that looked ok. The ones I wonder about are the ones that are included as attachments (rather than web links like to Photobucket). The ones put up using the "Additional Options" feature at the bottom of the post.
Anything done over there will NOT be saved.... it'd just be nice to get some other eyes to make sure the backup worked.
Then it's time to take the forum down for a day and do it to it.
Many thanks,
Bob the Web Elf

We will wait patiently for you to emerge from the dark side of the moon!

Bill, that's where Jerry Berry lives. Bob lives in the harsh metro area known as BF, New Mexico.

I stand corrected!

Waiting on the other side of BF New Mexico.

Black Lightning 2011 attempt? Yup, you and little max have pictures showing, pages 3 and 4.

What thread is that? I searched but couldn't find anything promising.
Thanks,

Up-grades look great Bob.......Eclipses the old ones.................Still not Friday??????

Great.... the Landracing2 should be a copy of the old forum, though a few days old. I had to be sure a backup was valid before messing with the 'real' forum. I was on one forum, it crashed, the backup was 'bad'.... all lost. I don't wanna do that. :-o
So ... delayed again, probably next week. But it's getting closer, and I have a warm fuzzy feeling about the backup, which I hope I don't have to use. :-D

Boy, that new font is sure using up a bunch of my monitor's ink supply.
-
No problem, Stan. Just ask Anders to use his 3D printer to print some ink cartridges for your monitor. Then he can email a picture of it to you and you just hafta display it on your monitor for ten or fifteen seconds and everything will be all right for a long time again.
See how easy it is?

I am wondering why the posts that I make about Jack's Garage
never appear under the listing of "unread posts since last visit."
It's the same thing with the posts related to our Target 550 entry.

I don't think your own posts appear on the "Unread Posts" list.

They appear for everyone else Freud and you already know what's in them (I hope). :-D :-D :-D

They're right, Freud - everybody else is getting the "new" notification. If you wanna see what others have said about you there's always "show unread responses to my smart-acura posts" or whatever its called. it's right below the "unread" posts thingie.

OK, I've swallowed my tongue and arthritis is
slowing my fingers. Cataracts and no glasses
probably account for my dilemma. Now my
hearing has muted the people that are shouting
the answers. Must be all taken care of and I'll
slide away to Bolivia. I can't understand them
anyhow and I'll be so out of breath that I can't
respond. Guess it wasn't a problem afterall.

Do you miss th spell checker?
The solution: Open the site in Google Chrome.
When a word is incorrect goto EDIT at the top of the page.
When it opens scroll down to SPELLING and GRAMMAR
Slide sideways to Show Spelling and Grammar
An attachment will open that shows the incorrectly spelled
word and also the replacement.
Spell Check achieved w/o Bob the Elf.

Usually their just using word's in they're wrong text.
-
It will take care of that also.
It is no help on the cover foto
for the program.

Jeez, I just learned something.... get all backlogged and put a problem off for a couple days, and sometimes people will solve it for ya! (Thanks, everybody!)
Seriously, the forum rebuild is still going to happen, and the new version will be able to handle more add-ons, AND I'll soon be put out to pasture retired and can do lots more tweaking on things.

Not being a smart a__ about the Spell Checker.
I discovered it in a different application and since
that didn't seem to be available as things were, I
just decided to show that there was a way if needed.
I figured that if something could be available that Bob,
the Elf, didn't have to do, his money per minute could
be enhanced.
