This has already been cleared by SSS, so here goes.
Anybody who's ever strapped a driver in a car with "pull up" style lap belts know how much of a pain it can be to get ahold of the slippery little devils and get a good pull on them. We've been using these belt tighteners in our other types of racecars and since land speed racers tend to be very safety conscious I thought I'd put them out there.
These are CNC cut and powder coated silver. Cost is $15.00 sipped in the lower 48. You can reach me here or at dbwhiskers@aol.com.

That's a good idea, a lot nicer than my piece of wooden dowel.
Sid.

Thanks, and a portion of the proceeds go to this site. Can't thank this place enough for all its valuable information.

Do you take Paypal?
-
Yes, I can take paypal or any credit card over the phone.

I will miss the hands on part of the crouch strap!
-
Stan: That'd be the piece of material that goes over your shoulders and down to your CROTCH and makes you walk all stooped over forward when you get out of the car?
-
SSS, how would you know about crotch straps, riding a 2 wheeler like you do. I never had a problem with tight belts, Jim Jenson (little Jim) would really tighten them up.
-
I don't know about crotch STRAPS -- I'll grant ya that. But I do know the difference between a crouch and a crotch.
Really. :-P

I'd like to give some feedback on this gizmo. It worked well and my crew liked it for both the pull up lap strap and the shoulder straps. If another run is done, I'd add a bit of meat (either thicker or wider) to the elbow going down to the narrow part that slips into the belt loop. We bent it a bit. All in all though I like it and was well worth the money.

Thanks for the input. I've had a couple people mention the same thing, but its never happened to me. I'll take them up a gauge on the next run. Can you tell me if it twisted there or stretched open?
-
Stretched open just a bit, maybe slight twist. Didn't cause a problem though and the guys helping me really liked it.
-
Do you still have any of these doobers?
I think I'd like 4.
-
Sorry I didn't see this earlier, things have been crazy here. I do have plenty more if you'd like 4. Email me at dbwhiskers@aol.com and I'll get you going.
Thanks for the input from the other users. In my own use I've noticed a bit of stretching and twisting, especially if the belt wasn't all the way in the tool or I didn't get a straight pull.
The test piece I made was 3/16, and the people i showed it to thought it was a little husky. These are 11 gauge and I'll probably make the next batch out of 10 gauge. I do appreciate the input though!

Hi, are these still available? :?
-
If you bring some to Speed Week, you will probably sell quite a few. I'd take two but there is no time to ship them now. If you do bring some to the Salt, do you have a cell phone number that I can call to contact you there?
If Slim is having Salt Talks again this year, that may be a good place to get together.
Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ

They are still available and I can ship to Wendover if somebody has a contact. Sadly I won't be there this year.
