In 1970 a double engine Triumph was the second naked frame bike to top 200 MPH..... I believe Buddy Martinez was the rider, McEvoy the tuner? Does anyone know of any photos of this bike ??? Thanks

Oh boy...that goes back to the first year we attended!....I recall the bike and the names etc as I was building a semi-custom Triumph 650 of my own at the time...My dad, who was big into slideshows, had tons of pics...they all still exist but they are, I think, in my older brother's possession. He is probably not any time soon in a position where he will be "un-busy" enough to go looking.
Maybe hang on to my info here and drop me a note ....I will see about somehow finding the pictures as there was a lot (a few hundred anyway) of pics from 1970 to 1973

Sounds like McEvoy's bike. Here's a story and photos from EasyRider magazine.

Thanks for the info. Another guy sent me a similar article. The details of the chain drive is interesting. I'm building a double Triumph as we speak and trying to gather up ideas on the driveline..

Don was an almost weekly eliminator winner with a single-engine Triumph in the early days (were there any other than that?) at Colton.

Boris Murray said Don McEvoy taught him everything he knew about running nitro.

I've talked to Tyler about his bike and got some ideas. I prefer to use a chain drive...and a Harley 5 speed and clutch...

My first trip to B'ville was 1970 and I got to talk to Don Sliger with the twin Enfield. He had switched to straight-cut gears on the primaries because chains would not live. Then he proceeded to twist off clutch housings. :-o "It's always sumthin'!" Rose Ann Rose Anna Danna! Get that build diary going! G
Busy crewing so I didn't see McEvoy's rig but some other stuff: http://www.landracing.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=213&pid=8973#top_display_media

My father James set the record in August of 73 @ 201.4mph AAF 2000cc #98b. Id love to chat with anyone that knows about or was associated with Don or the bike. The pics I posted are of my father on the bike the year the record was set and of a younger version of me standing next to Don.

Great pictures & info, thanks
I keep a list of naked LSR riders over 200, any venue, and your Dad is one of the very first.
