Title: New topic - about poor salt conditions - link is given below
Post by: Seldom Seen Slim on July 23, 2015, 06:29:21 PM
Find this topic to go to the entire set of topics and discussions about the cancellation of SpeedWeek and the Test and Tune and the conditions of the salt and the mining conpanies and all of that stuff.  I'd like to keep all the comments in one location -- and that's what it'll be.  It's in the Bonneville General Chat section.

Dang.  Upon rethinking - I wish I had/could have better separated the various topics and threads.  I know it's a bit of a pain to read some specific part of all that stuff - without going through it all - but gee-zul-man, I wanted to consolidate everything for the general good.

Dodged if I did, dodged if I didn't.  Caveat Emptor.  That's the way the cookie bounces. You can fool some of the people all the time but you can't fool Mother Nature.  And so on. . .

Slim, I am glad you put this all together. Yes it is a pain because this is a very long thread but I don't know how you would have separated it. Once again, I am glad it is all together.

Now, who wants to read all 43 pages and summarize the comments on:
What causes salt depletion.
Proof of salt depletion.
Role of those with stakes like BLM, STS, SCTA, press, us whiners etc.
How to stop it.

I would nominate Bob but the thread length would double  :-D

Whilst those of us in Britain may not be able to provide effective assistance with what might be seen as a US National problem I am with Dave (post5) because I cannot sift fact from heresay, reality from conjecture etc....... I think we know what is wrong - the salt cannot be used for speed racing, but I cannot get my head around why it is so bad in July 2015, nor what can be done.

As an engineeer a diagram might help, so who can draw a 3D image of the salt flats from surface to below the aquifer(s)? from which salt solution is being withdrawn so I can see what is happening.

What link?

It's like the title of the thread says "given below" (but it doesn't say when  )  Good job Slim.

Dave B. from Akron (?)  And just what, I may ask, are you implying?  That perhaps I might be guilty of "slight" embellishment and repetitious monotony while providing "thoughtful explanation of how things ought to be (according to me, obviously)" and with precise and to the point meaning and occasionally proven fact.
  How dare you?
