Title: 3 part tire question
Post by: toledoupsguy on May 15, 2015, 06:56:54 AM
On my first try at LSR I wasn't able to get to my 200mph goal but had a blast nonetheless.  I want to make sure I'm prepared for June.  So the questions, and thanks in advance for your answers.

1) since I only went 183 I am OK still running my stock zx14r tires?
2) once hitting 200 I have to use "race" tires?
3) have you guys running the big heavy busas and zx14s come to any conclusion of a safe "race" tire to use?

I use the Bridgestone 003rs. I use it on the salt and pavement.

Do you have an ECTA rulebook? All the answers are there. The tire spec is determined by the record in the class you're running, not your best speed. good luck, Dean

I do have a rule book and was reading it before posting.  I guess where my confusion is coming from is when Mr. Caputo inspected my bike he showed me the rule book and I thought (maybe wrong) that there was something in bold black (new) under tires in his book.  I do know he had written in that zx14s and busa tires don't meet new spec.  There is nothing in my log book under inspection about replacing my tires.  I have no problem with getting the "right tires" BUT there is no way I can sell the lady of the house on getting new tires with only 440 miles on the bike.  If it's going to be a problem this time I need to cancel my registration for June.

Ohhh. Send an email to Keith Turk, he can clarify any rules questions.
