Title: 30' +/- enclosed trailer
Post by: entropy on March 25, 2014, 07:47:49 AM
TFA Racing in Houston is looking to buy a used, enclosed trailer to haul our lil Lakester to chassis dyno, alignment shop, and hopefully to Speedweek 2014

We could squeeze it into a 24', but MUCH prefer 28/30'-ish
No problem with normal wear & tear, it just needs to be mechanically sound.
Gooseneck would be good, but not a deal breaker
We've lined up a rental F350 Crew Cab for Speedweek, so we are NOT really looking for a truck + trailer combo.

Anything out there?
Karl

Karl, how wide must the trailer be inside?  Not that I'm ready to sell our bike trailer, but since it's otherwise kinda close to your needs I thought I'd ask.  Ours is something like 5 - 5 1/2 feet wide inside - being that it's a repurpose of a snowmobile trailer.

Hey Slim!
We'd prefer narrower than the standard 8.5' but I haven't seen 28-30' trailers less than 8.5'
How long is yr snow moble trailer?
Maybe i should google for "enclosed snowmobile trailers"

I haven't measured it with transit and surveying tools, but I remember the seller proclaiming that it was 26 1/2 long.  I know that it'll hold a pair of bikes side by side -- twice, with another in single file in front of that - and a pit bike way up in the nose.  Enclosed, yes, with built in cabinets, stereo, wired for both 12VDC and 110VAC, has fluorescent tubes in the ceiling for the 110VAC, ramp rear and angle-front ramp doors, curbside walk door.  About 3,000# empty, I think -- although I've never weighed it without a load in it.

By all means - shop for snowmobile trailers on the new/used market.  We bought this one off the side of the road around this time of year (end of snowmobile season).  There are quite a few of this ilk out there.

That's more likely in your and my part of the world than in Texas Jon.  :-D :-D :-D

I admit that, PJ, but I wouldn't be surprised if, even down there in Tejas, they've somewhere or another got access to that Internet thingie and that can help shop all over the world.  Heck -- for the big difference in $US vs. $ Canada -- it might be worth the trip, although I don't know if Karl or the Canuck would benefit the most.
