I haven't seen anything about renewing old Bonneville numbers.
-
use the search function... or check the rulebook for info on how to get a number

Renewing isn't necessary if you've been using it, nor if you used it within the past few (three?) years or so. Ask Chuck Kalbach. He's the SCTA numbers guy. If you're trying to bring an old number out of retirement, so to speak, then I guess you'll need to talk with Mr. K to see if there's anything that'd make it difficult or impossible for you to get it.

Right.
Some put a "hold" on their historic number -- they may return with a new entry (or old) and retain the right as long as they contact Chuck.
-
Some folks will "loan" you a number for an event if they are not planning on running. We gave one of our numbers to a car because it had significance to them.
good luck with your effort

I gave my number 787 to Jerry Hoffman, DIYAutoTune.com
