Will World of Speed post a list of pre-entered vehicles so we can see who is racing? thanks Dave
-
We are working on that currently. There is always so much preparation that goes into putting on a race
that we sometimes get behind. Did get word yesterday that Vesco is bring both the 444 and 111 cars.
-
Target 550 intends to be there.

Thats a beautiful car Bob. I only saw it in passing at SW but it sure is pretty.
-
Yeah-Well. The 7800 car will not be there according to the two phone calls I just got from Bob. So I have a WoS preentry for sale. V4GMR@yahoo.com
-
thanks..
looks like we may not be going..
just learned of some rain showers..
we need just a little bit of a course to run hard..
I'll be making some changes to the car to provide more traction..
Speed Week was fun.. learned a lot.. only made one run where I hit my shift points, lost tach in the sun glare .. so we added a shift light..
so to recap... four .. 5 mile runs ... one where I shifted correctly.. it was without wing.. racepak had us at 395 mph at the 4.25... and the car moved to the right.HARD... too bad I was already on the right side of the course.. so chutes out no time .. oh well.. a good week.. car is in one piece..
2200 hp 24" track width...
What me worry?

Hope I don't get myself in trouble here, I'm not posting as a USFRA official. Just hopefully shedding some light on this subject.
You probably will not see a pre-entry list for WOS, for a very good reason. When the list did get posted in the past, some creepy jerk or jerks, took it upon themselves to start calling the teams on the list, and tell them that the WOS was cancelled, when in fact it was not. I can see that if you are traveling a long distance it would be nice to know if it was, but if you get a phone call, find out who it is, and make sure to call the USFRA number and get an official confirmation.
Jim B knows the salt, and it would have to be pretty bad before he cancelled a meet. The first year I ran my car, after spending night and day, 7 days a week getting it ready after my retirement. It rained real hard the day before tech, there was 6 inches of water from the pits to lands end.
Jim made the decision to tech at the lands end, and start the meet one day late, mother nature co-operated, the salt was great and I got to break my valve train after all, didn't have to sit in anguish for another year to do it. :-D

That was 2009, as I recall. I remember it looked like there was no way we'd ever be able to run at all. The road out to land's End was like a long, skinny island. But it turned out to be fine after pushing everything back just one day.
Maybe people are hesistant after the lousy course conditions at year's Speedweek, but you'll never know unless you actually show up. If it did rain, perhaps things will be all the better for it after it dries out again. Wunderground is currently showing a 30% chance of rain for tonight (Friday 8/23), then 20% on Sunday. After that, 0% thru Sunday 9/01.
Don't forget that the ONLY place for the official word is the USFRA website.

If you are a serious racer you will go every time there is an event scheduled.
Count up how many years you expect to live and multiply it by 3. Most won't
pay the dollar to run the Shoot Out. The product you get will tell you about
how many chances you will have to run. Then remember that in the late 40's
and all thru the 50's there was ONE event a year.
Many times when it rains the water is gone in one or two days. Frequently
the event schedule is adjusted to account for that delay. If you don't enjoy
being there for a day of inactivity you are missing out on a great part of the
enjoyment of Bonneville.
Oh h e l l yes I know about cost but if you had tickets to a pro football game
you would go and sit in the rain anyhow.
If there's a race scheduled......go.

Some one the board has a signature that reads something like:
"There only so many Bonnevilles in your lifetime, don't miss any of them."
See you there,

Hi Steve, Is that because of the olives? they are really god this year! Tom
-
OLIVES, PEPPERONI, the V-7 sports it's just plain and simple an offer I can't refuse. I double as a culinary tech. Before someone thinks unethical, that would be when you are being pulled out of the salt like Whiley Chiyotie, in a Road Runner Cartoon when you get between me and the Pepperoni Bros. coming into tech. :-P
I have been known to share though.

As this will be my last year of racing the "Bonneville Bee" and thanks to some local sponsorship from wood craftsman Geoff Heinekin [who has an Ital-jet!] I've ordered $50 worth of primo Margerita pepperoni from Casa Italiana in Canandaigua, NY, I like to tech early so you'll be good!
-
Steve, Tom has tried to foist that stuff off on me for years, and I've so far resisted. You're welcome to have my share this time around. Thanks, anyway, Mr. Liberatore, but I just don't care for your treats. But Steve and I will still tech your bike for you. And in case you still have any contact with him - say hi to Mike Rich for us.

Slim is totally inscrutable, no olive, pepper, pickled egg or pepperoni will ever pass his lips! I'll give your best to Mike, I'm sure I will call him for one last pep talk before I leave.

Just be sure there aren't any rising creeks nearby!
Good luck Rob. You deserve it with all the effort you and your crew have put fourth. It's a great looking build.
