Started with a former bracket car that a friend had and a bunch of flathead parts and this is the result. Still working on it but it does move under it's own power.

Removed the rear window today, really had no use for it and no good way to get rid of it so............

I really like this. That motor looks great in the Mustang. It's very different and they say if it looks right it goes right. Excellent, looks like you're ready.
-
That little car is bitchin! Kinda funny how that ole flathead looks right at home in a car that was born 50 years after it's engine was!
Looking forward to see how this one turns out!
-
Too cool, now that is outside de box. :-D
-
Love it!!

Very cool power choice. How much power are you making with your combo, and what class will the car be in?

Stupid me!
I see lots of details when passing a beautiful girl, but I could never tell you what color her eyes where?

What happened to Scrap Iron I? It looks to be a rear modified roadster?

We teamed up with the "Grim Reefer" guys (Arden Beale, Roy and David Angle) from Idaho. They are working on the car to have it compete at Speedweek this year with their motor. What I understand David is doing most of the work to get the car to fit him, he's much taller than me. David is a graduating senior in high school and recently won 1st Place state auto contest for high school students.

Is it my imagination or is your exhaust routed forward? I started
to think "Hmm, a couple of turbos compounding into the blower"
but I'm not sure a flattie would handle all that power. It would
sound pretty Dodge awesome!
-
On that side view on post of the car is that the ride height the car will race at ?
-
It does look a little high, but I already cut one coil off the springs.
-
Went to the local drag strip for some test and tune. We wanted to check out the freshened motor and boost pressure with new pulley combo. Had lots of fun explaining why the car had such a kick-ass roll cage and ran so slow. At least we put street tires on the back instead of Front Runners. Also had to explain where Bonneville was and why we put a flathead in a Fox body Mustang.
might mention if you try this you might want to check you brakes first.........there seemed to be a good bit of rust on the rotors and it didn't stop too good!
-
That must have been funny.
Slow at a drag strip.
Do you think the locals believed you about Bonneville?. :-D
That car is still the nicest looking Ford around.
-
threw together a website for $50 on Ipage hosting that shows three slideshows of Bonneville adventures and construction pictures of our three cars.

This is a cool car, I'll be watching this thread.
-
Checked the site.
Nice one. It may have cost $50 but the cars just have presence.
I admire your work big time.
Thanks.

Salt, thanks for sharing the link to your site. As one who still would like to build an RMR at some point ( even if it puts me in the doghouse with the wife ) I liked looking at the pics. WIsh I had a chance to look at your cars closer last year at SW. This year for sure
-
thanks for all the nice comments. Haven't been on here lately, had a stroke and while trying to figure out why discovered severe blockage, so had triple by-pass surgery two weeks ago. I am self-employed so I have not worked for almost a month. But, I feel great and expect a complete recovery SOON! The car has been ready to go since Christmas,so we're still full speed ahead for Speedweek 2014.
-
Salt:
Good to hear on the recovery. Even better to hear that plans for XF Stang are still on.
Good luck,
BR
-
I wish you a speedy recovery.
At least you something great to concentrate on.
Nice to have you back.
-
Salt;
Wishing you a speedy recovery-- see you at Speed Week!
Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ
-
Good to hear of your recovery Phil. See you at Speed Week.

Speedy recovery wishes for ya
-
Well, pretty much have the car ready to go. Have new head gaskets coming from Flatout that I will match to my block and heads.
Small problem, I had another small stroke. A ulcer in/on my carodit artery was removed Sunday morning. Should be fine by Speedweek. Oh well....
-
Love the orange car. best wishes for a healthy recovery . . .
-
Phil, glad you are on the mend! I hope to see you and the 'stang on the salt!
-
well learned something new today, although I guess I should have know this. Got some head gaskets from Flatout with the combustion chamber and valve pocket area undersize so I could fit them to my block(flathead ford V8). I matched one up to a spare block, same bore, and then to my valve relief area on the heads I am going to run. Well, put the gasket on the motor in the car and the bores are off by .050 or more. Seems the bore spacing is just not the same. Passenger side is worse than the driver's side. I guess I would have to make the gaskets, block and heads a matched set from the start.
-
went to chassis dyno today and we are pleased that our motor is improving. May not sound like much to you guys but it made 223 rear wheels, still climbing at 4700 rpm. that's supercharged flathead on gas. Picture is plugs after one run, what do you guys think?

-
Looks a bit lean to me. What brand and heat range is the spark plug? Did you pull the plug after a clean shut off on the engine just after the pull?
-
Hi Ron,
NGK B7HS, backed the car on the chassis dyno, changed plugs, made one pull, drove off dyno onto trailer. EGT peaked at 1200
-
Considering you drove off the dyno and onto the trailer I would think the plug would have gotten a bit darker. EGT temps are not bad but best reading would be air fuel during the pull. Still looks lean but when your running at the higher elevation at Speed Week the color will certainly get a bit darker. Are your plugs 3/4 inch long?
-
afr during pull was 11.7. Spark plugs are 1/2 reach. We tried extended reach iridium and some hit the valves.
-
The air fuel ratio is very safe I think your in good shape.
