If you folks would like live audio coverage of the Swedish Speedweekend on Ice -- all you've got to do is figure out a way to get Nancy and me to Sweden. Ellwood has offered (once again) to host us and make sure we've got a vehicle and all of that. It's just the getting to Stockholm that''s a bit of a $$ challenge.
Sure would be fun, and then you could hear racing announcers speaking Swedish. Skol!

Great - now I have to hunt down an analog FM tuner.
The digital I put aside falls in the cracks between frequencies in Europe.

New for this year shall be two long tracks:-
the usual 3.2 km track for the Flying K
and parallell a new 3.8 km track for outright speed records
plus for speedway motorcycle with ice studs - an oval track
and on the outskirts of the ice - a track for old american cars to cruise around.
Maybe even an Ice Bar
-
This year, we shall have cruising on the outskirts of the track. Definetely on the bucket list for true Rednecks.

I don't know what that is -- but I don't think I'd try shipping it anywhere.

Hehe Stan, so true.
Actually it is a toffee rocket - a steel tube with a lining of toffee , like what one eats. As soon as its on fire then i can open the throttle , and squirt liquid laughing gas down the tube - this gives a massive amount of oxygen, and a massive burn rate of the sugar in the toffee. All this results in a safe , manageable hybrid rocket. shutting off the NOS shuts down all thrust.
This is a very simple way of going very fast, like 600 mph, but i darent go that fast on the ice, so will be happy if i reach 120 mph. The sled it rests in is very homemade.

Haha, thats the NOS tube. the rocket is underneath me, behind a 1/4 " aluminium protective plate , all under the 1/16" fairing. So no probs

Revheads having a whole $hitpile of fun, it doesn't get much better than that.
When my smile would start to relax a little, along would come a 34 3-window "dually" or a limo or a crotch "rocket" or bath tub with "ape hangers".
Love the whole spirit of it, no wonder it's growing.
Hey Elwood, did you check the firing order on your toffee rocket?

Ellwood and Mark Thomas have combined efforts to send me a trio of CDroms of photos from the '13, '12, and '11 SpeedWeekend on Ice. I just looked at the photos from the '13 event -- and they're pretty danged fun to see. Goofy stuff, serious race vehicles, the most massively-studded tires you'll see -- and on and on.
There are so many photos that I'm going to put them into the photo gallery. it'll be a few days 'til they're up there, but I'll let you know when the project is done. There must be a few hundred -- and if you're anything like me and most of the other LSR folks -- you'll want to see them. Stay tuned -- and Thank Mark Thomas for his photo work. He's a Brit that's been going to Sweden for the event for at least three years. They keep trying to get Nancy and me over there, too. I wonder if we'll go. . .
-
In my last post here I mentioned the photos from Mark Thomas. Well -- he sent me a handful of DVDs full of photos. In fact -- it's about 2,600 of 'em!!!! With that many I've forwarded the discs to Bob Clancy and he'll get them up on the photo gallery as soon as he can. He's got a rapid bulk uploader. You oughta be able to see 'em soon.
And then -- there's this that came in just this afternoon from Glenn Ocklund:
Hi
We have a new list of 200 km/h Club on the ice, if you want to post a link on Landracing.com
