Title: Intake air flow question

Ok Have a question and need some help please:

I am going to be running my air intake tube to the front of the car.

It will only make one turn and that's going into the air box that mounts to my carbs.

I want to make the air flow as efficient as possible.

I was told that some designs are doing more harm than good because the air swirls in the tube and does not go into the carbs as fast as it should.

Can this be true?

How do I test for this, or design it for maximum efficiency? The carbs on this engine is right against the firewall, so I need all the air flow I can get.

If you are looking for preassure recovery (very low boost from the car going forward) you want the air to be pretty much stopped at the carburetor mouth.

That is usually achieved by a correctly sized inlet (smallish) running into a big airbox.

Unless the dueling system is set up to cope with a rising rate regulator etc it can lead to fueling problems.

There is a bit in getting it right.
