Title: LTA SETS ELECTRIC CAR CLASSES
Post by: blackslax on February 29, 2012, 04:34:07 PM
Hello Racers,
Here are the classes that will allow electric vehicles.

Production - /EPRO  - Any electric vehicle originally manufactured as an EV. Nissan Leaf, Tesla, etc.

Gas Coupe - /EGC   - Gas coupe falls under the Category of Modified. And is designed for vehicles that seated four people (2+2, jump seats, Shelby GT350 included). Since an engine swaps moves a production car to Gas Coupe and Sedan Class, so does an EV conversion.

Altered Coupe - /EALT – Altered Coupes are basically Gas Coupes with a higher level of modification.

Grand Touring - /EGT – GT cars (Corvette, E-Type Jag, Speedsters, etc. only produced with seating for 2.)  Grand Touring class allows limited engine swaps in ICE classes.  We have decided to allow EV conversions due to the high number of EVs that fit the class and to separate them from the Modified Sport Class which allows extensive modifications.

Modified Sport - /EMS – Modified Sport class are GT cars (Grand Touring – Corvette, E-Type Jag, etc. only produced with seating for 2.) This class includes GT cars with modifications ranging from an engine swaps through full race set up.

Super Street - /ESS – A catch all for anything that is street legal that does not meet the requirements of a class (body kits being the biggest reason).

Modified Pickup - /EMP – Pickup class that allows engine swaps.

Modified Mid/Mini Pickup - /EMMP – Pickup class that allows engine swaps.

Lakester – /EL - Purpose built open wheeled race vehicle.

Streamliner - /ES – Purpose built enclosed wheel race vehicle.

What happens if someone swaps out the OEM engine with somethings like an LS7. Is the car still in the same class running against a smaller displacement engine?

No Roadster classes!
What kinda Land Speed racing is that!

(Let's see -- "push start" to the 132' trap, have all the plugs pulled, put in high gear, run the starter thru the traps -- bingo!  J/ESTR record.  Pull the headlights, do it again -- bingo!  J/ER record.  Pull the radiator shell, do it again -- bingo!  J/EMR.  Add three more records to my signature -- priceless!)

((Turn car around, do it again -- bingo!  J/ERMR record.))

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

These is lectric cars where you strips them there pluses and minuses aways from each others then make say howdy again later.  That there LS7 gets left in yonder corner of the shed when when ya's shoe horns that lertric motor in.

(This overview is provided for demonstation purposes only and is not expressed or implied to be comprehensive in nature.  The LTA accepts no liability for any race vehicle designed, built, or raced based solely on the preceding descriptive narrative. For a more thorough understanding of EV and all LTA rules, please download the section of the LTA rulebook which outlines the applicable requirements.)

OK, electric only. I get it. The Hybrid question comes up every couple of weeks.

Do you move up a class if you put a blower on the hybrid?

For the electrics, it's called a hair dryer, not a blower.  Norelco makes a nice one.

The LTA allows hybrids in Street and Production Category.
Adding a Blower would not meet the rules of Production.
Adding a blower would be allowed in Superstreet which is an LTA and ECTA only class.
It would move the vehicle from the applicable IC engine class to Blown in the same class.
