Title: U/DT at Elmo?
Post by: McRat on February 07, 2012, 01:46:07 PM
If I tape up the gaps, block off the grill, and add nitrous to a B/DT 160+ legal truck, is there anything else stopping me from legally running U/DT in a full sized 403ci diesel pickup?

Did you pose this question to Jim Dunn?

Do you have the required skid plate mounted?

Has skidplate from factory, Torque is all diesels need according to the Gospel of Cummins, reliability is being able to winch onto a trailer when done, and money is coming from selling a kidney (hopefully somebody elses) ...

Pat,

Skid plate I believe is for the running gear in case you lost a tire at speed so it would not be able to "dig in" and then catch and roll..

Anyone else?

John

I would bet it's intended for Class 8 trucks, or they would make skidplates mandatory on pickup classes.  But we do have one, and it's the low point.  I can't hit it unless a wheel falls off,

Looks like you could just run the nitrous and effectively be illegal for DT thereby making you legal for UDT.  Unless of course you really want to do that other stuff.
