Title: Any rules regarding wheel materials for modified bikes?
Post by: MiltonP on January 18, 2012, 06:46:36 PM
I don't see anything in the 2010 rule book in front of me but thought I would ask on here if there are any rules/issues I should be aware of regarding switching over to Dymag wheels on my modified class duc.  The source I found for the exhaust components I need has offered me some real light wheels that supposedly came on a special edition Ducati from the 916/996 era. I believe these are magnesium but the new ones also have carbon fiber components so I am not positive.  I should get a look at them by next week.  I thought I remembered a forum discussion somewhere regarding concerns over carbon wheel failures  but haven't found it.

Milton,
I don't see anything in the 2011 ECTA rulebook against Mg or CF wheels and you can certainly change wheels in Mod class.  Still has to use metal valve stems  and caps of course. I don't remember anything regarding CF wheel failures and rule changes.

Thanks,  Got a look at them today and there isn't any CF so I am sure I am OK.  May have been some other racing series I was thinking about.
