So far

Stude, Camaro, Sonoma and a Mazda...  cool

Who care to guess (or wager) on the finishing order ???

Not saying it is easy to go fast,,, but with turbo's, super chargers, nitrous, fuel or sometimes two of the power adders it sure does make it easier,,

I can't wait for you power adders to remove that fancy stuff and back slide down to my N/A level...

Its 3 so far. You have to enter a car to get in on the deal. The ECTA will not be involved what so ever.  You can bet with your friends though!!!!

Yeah our doors slam with the best of them. They make a very satisfying thunk sound too.

If we can make the switch over maybe we can run you guys. We may just be trying for 2 club status with some upgrades though.

Am I correct in that this Mazda is the SB2 powered 2nd Gen RX7? If so then we will pass on sunning against that. He is a bit faster then us when we have 2 carbs.

Another thing I thought of. Can we bring some weight to add to your cars? Seems like we may be 1000lbs heavier then a stude or camaro.

Java Joe ,
The Time Bomb, Your Sonama and the Waddell's Mazda are all in the 200 club..
I am "currently" the  slowest car in the C Shootout and my Stude weighs just over 3500 lbs race ready with me in the car.

I am not afraid to run against any of you.. Heck

So wht don't you put on a single plane intake and 1 carb  and join in ??

My C motor is old school circa 1994 technology SBC... running a single carb on a store bought single plane intake.

Let's have some fun...

Fred pony up with your White Monza with the LS6 and join us !!!

Alternately, maybe I can con our car owner in Houston to loan you our C engine (Keith Dorton SB2) from last year (it's already been over 250 in the RMR at 4k#).

I'll be back from SE Asia at the end of the month -  Let's get ready to Exxxxxercise!

Unh, fellows -- don't forget that there's a trophy-making business that's a member of the ECTA.  If you want the trophy customized -- you tell me what you want and you'll get it done.

But -- I don't think that Nancy and I will be at the inaugural Wilmington event, much as we'd like to be.  We've been invited to attend the GasUp at the Mendenhall Museum in Buellton, CA, that same weekend.  We'll be receiving some honors - and want to be there in person for the ceremony.

But whether we attend Wilmington or not -- we can still make trophies for you.  Charles, have I got a good photo of you and the Stude?  If not -- send one to me (email, please).  A good photo, not a drawing, although I guess the latter would be okay.  I'd rather have the car and you in a photo, though.  You'll find out why - sooner or later.

Yup, I did -- and thought that I'd give you the opportunity to supply one of your own.  Don't fear - - I'll get something to you soon (-er or later).

Jon, in Skandia, Michigan, where it's dang near 30 degrees F. out there right now.  Weird warm weather. . . :-(

You have only seen the shifts that  I have allowed to be seen....Remember I was driving 9 second gear jammer drag cars before you where born !!!  LOL   (no air shifters or clutchless modern transmissions either)

Trust me...my Ohio shifts will not be lazy...Like I told you two,,, the cars motor to motor "should" be close,,, so yes I know the margin of victory will boil down to the best launch and the best shifts,,, like I said 4 pages ago,

,So Mike,, I agree with your generalazation about shifts,,, But I disagree with what you think my "Race Shifts" will be,,,

It's going to be fun,,

I will bring the towel for you or would you rather have a bib for that spilt chocolate milk you are making ??

LSR Mike,

I know the Time Bomb crew has a NEW and Awesome C motor program planned for Ohio... So we feel it should be
a good Challenge...

The Challenge shall push each of the teams to a higher level,,, but it has to be single carb N/A on gas,,, no power adders..
that is where I think I have a "slight advantage".. I think I will just stick with my old school stuff,,I am not going to show up with any Fancy SB2 or better Dry sump stuff,,, just an old fashioned wet sump SBC for me..

Charles

This is one great thread. I had no idea who to pull for until disco came into it - the curse of the '70s. But then... a disco ball shifter?

Apparently senial is a word somewhere because my spell checker didn't catch it. I'm trying to figure out why you're even in this conversation. Time to put down the keyboard and pickup a life. The only racing you've done is to the sailors convention to try to find a new first mate

Send the Maty's boys that disco ball shifter,,, cause all they will be doing is the disco duck at my victory pit party !!!!

Wow this deal is getting big now,  I wish my ride was not so slow or I would like to get in. I am kinda sporting guy myself, if word leaks out of the "Chalenge" Speed channel or ESPN will be wanting to cover it.

Inside every old man is a young man wondering what the hell happened

A thought. Instead of $50 winner take all, losers make out $50 check to legitimate charity of winner's choice. Winner gets the notoriety, charity gets needed funds, losers get to deduct $50 as charitable contribution.

First off, he does not know my numbers, you do not know my numbers,,, all you know is what the time slip showed in October,,????... I also know,,, ain't no way he can get you the HP you need with your current platform.. He will have to go SB2.2 or better.. no way your current SBC  motor to motor will get me... That is a FACT...

Now what is your favorite Cheese !!!!

Sharp New York Chedder. You told me your numbers and they match your speed so I know about where they are at. We already told you we will not have a 23* motor this year.

You know my current motors are  355 and 370 Cubic Inch
23 degree and 18 degree  SBC's
(oh I did forget to show David my "special motor" it is 368 cu inch)

Now I never figured the Time Bomb crew would be to chicken to tell us what kind of motor they are going to run???

But if that is the way you wanna dance,, then I guess I should take out the currently installed motor (code name JHF)   and put in the 368 (code name KTA)

Part of winning is strategy. Something which you clearly lack, given you're the only that hasn't been over 200.  Sense chucky not dollars

Now David,,, you best not draw first blood without a few facts..

Fact 1. You are in the 200 Club, but only with power adders and bigger motors than C
Fact  2.  You have broke 200 with BIG TURBO BOOST and bigger than C motor
Fact 3. You have broken 200 with 250 shot of NOS and bigger motor than C
Fact 4.  You have broken more motor parts in one run than I have in 4 years.

Fact 5.  This Challenge is a C motor N/A single carb on GAS
Fact 6.  You have never ran over 185 mph with a N/A gas motor (and that was a B motor ?)
Fact 7.  I have been 191 on a C gas motor (on motors second pass, on a bad day in a head wind and geared wrong with street tires and babying the throttle to try to hook up.
Fact 8.  Strategy !!.. I have one,, I got you power adder junkies to agree to run N/A on gas,, Boo Rah !!
Fact 9. I have more MPH than you think.
Fact 10. I do have more "Modern" Engines than the ones you have seen.. !! (just to Lazy to plumb the oil systems)

Charles

So what you're telling me is you weren't smart enough to use a power adder. You can call it whatever you want. I call it a green hat a jacket and a tshirt you don't have and I did it in 1year 5 years ago for less than 30k. How much have you spent. Like I said sense not dollars...  You should work for the Feds. They spent 10 times more then they need to and still can't finish the job in a timely manner. I believe they call that the executive branch.   8-)

Dave,  this topic is the C N/A Gas Challenge,,

No one disputes that you have a Green Hat or that you have been 200 a few times,,

But that was using Power Adders.. which is sure easier to go 200 with Blown B motor than it is is the same car
with  N/A Gas C motor,,,
I hope you would agree... Now If  ALL I wanted is a Green Hat,,, I could simply use a shot if N20 and do it, or put a Turbo or two, or a Super Charger,,, or  Drop in my  950HP N/A Gas BBC... but that would be easy and not what I want,,

I want 3 things..
1. A Green Hat in  C/CGALT  yes N/A Gas C motor...
2. A Red Hat in E/CGALT
3. To have you award me the Trophy for our  N/A Gas C motor Challenge...

Are we still having fun ?

I won with a 195.5 ... Underdog was second with a 194 in the Mazda.... He then put the N2O on to win the TSC in Street Class...

No big deal...it was just an off season web battle for fun...we are all good friends... Heck even with all his trash talking about my low HP motor, I let Dave Maty drive my Studebaker in Maine and he got in the LTA 200 club with my " low HP". N/A  gas C motor...

See what are friends for ?? Plus he cooks a mean Lobster boil at the track !!!
