Title: Only 6 months
Post by: flyingwombat on September 05, 2006, 05:27:54 AM
I just realised it is only 6 months from today til I need to have something built doh. The Plan at the moment is to be there in  March with a 750cc streamliner (car) I have just about everything now apart from front wheels and chute.. obviously no body either, have just started cutting and bending my frame. Nope not a drla member yet.. gotta get around to that money order (we really do need to get with the 21st century and accept plastic). Also havent been able to logon to dlra website. Yep I am from Australia .. Bathurst actually, any guys from the other side of the pond look up Mount Panorama. The stupid name was given to me by a pommy guy when I was racing in Charlotte NC in 96,
Will keep updated when I can eventually get on oz website

Wombat , go to www.dlra.org/forum and click on sign up or register ....there's a little verification to go through , at the site you can download a rule book........it aint run-whatcha-brung so getting up to speed on the rules and regs is important ..........I would recomend going as a spectator the first time , with a camera and a few fizzy drinks............that way you'll get a really good idea of what you'll need to survive the week and race without too many expensive disappointments.

"Our" website is a bit of a pain, I registered a couple of months ago(with a differentname)  but have yet to be verified. I am not much of a spectator. I downloaded the rule book 3 years ago and know it just about verbatim.
I have been GUNNA do this for a few years then at a bbq a few months ago with a heap of mates around I uttered these famous last words " how hard can it be.... to build a streamliner" haha I think I am finding out. Due to time constraints it is going to be very simple, and I hope I have enough time after it is running to do justice to the body I have in my head...NO not once did I mention Angelina!!!!

My rear tyres turned up today.. but I really want some of those 5" fronts theys seem to be like RHS.

As for expensive dissapointments.. if it has boobs or wheels its gunna be expensive, but  if I make it there I wont be dissapointed, regardless of the outcome... and besides thats why its gunna be simple, just want to get a bit of experience, not really expecting to set too many records.. oh yeah there is no australian record for that class haha

Many times a "GUNNA" is confused with multiple applications of Guiness.
That is the test of a friend.
A real one will offer to help and has done it.
A not so real one will enjoy just watching.
Kinda like they guy that said "Here try this", just to see somebody try.
That's entertainment.
