Ray:
Now that I've read all on this page, how about adding some Jeff Beck -- maybe "The Pump" -- to your soundtrack?
Rocky's speeds on that run:
entry 311, kilo 311, mile 311 exit 313. Backfiring per the tower and per Lynda at Land's End -0- and we could hear it here from the pits, too.

Well, the calendar for the event may say something, but Mike Cook is now stating (has been all week) that today is the last day of the Shootout 2010.
Geroge Poteet is now getting into the Speed Demon at the far end of the international course. Will make a run in a little while. They're wearing those M/T tires -- not Goodyears. I'll get Nate to give me more data if you realy want it -- but Ian is the nerd, as I said yesterday, and offered more decimal places if I ask him and have paper and pencil in hand.
Course is locked down, George is strapped in, ready to fire the engine.
Heads Up Performance is running the motor on the 'Busa -- hoping for more fun today.
George hopes to come into the pits "hot" -- so we're all staying the heck outa the way of him. Remember the one-hour rule -- for the record a car has exactly one hour from when the entry light beam is broken on the down run -- to when the exit light beam is broken on the way back.
Engine running, canopy being lowered.
Vehicle is moving on the truck. Through the zero, gaining, gaining. Through the one and putting 'em down and pickin em up quick!
Shut down, reports it wouldn't shift gears, we'll hang out for a little while and see what's going on. Crew is on the way to the Speed Demon now.
Speed Demon is in the pit -- drove it down here after the shifting problem. According to the tower George "idled" it, at about a buck-eighty five, through the lights. He drove it here and came to a stop right on the line on the tarp in their pit. Fun stuff to watch.

So -- FIM Charlie is in the Horner/Williams pit to see if they'd like to run soon. No reports from Ack or Demon on status, and I haven't heard anything out of the Nish pit. I think I'll mosey over there and get an update for youse guys. Back in a little while -- gotta go get the pit bike from our trailer and ride it. By the way -- even us internet reporters have equipment failures sometimes. The battery in the pit bike went flat yesterday -- too many starts followed by really short runs. I took the battery to the motel last night for a recharge and put things back together this morning. All rarin' to go on the Seldom Seen Slim effort.
I'm gone for a little while. Don't say bad things about me -- I don't want to take the time to try to defend myself.
Open wheel bikes might be ready to run in 45 minutes.

Speed Demon's problem was oil on the clutch. Don't know yet how it got there -- but that was why George popped it into third and the engine zinged -- no damage, taking things apart. They've got a spare clutch.
Spectre is working and getting ready to run. They hurt a turbo yesterday -- have a spare, but it's a slightly different size. The two are going to share tubing so there won't be too much of an imbalance when they run. They'd like to run at WF - but only if they've got enough parts remaining to put down some good numbers.
Nish is washing up and going home. No reason on what's hurt -- will ask, but wanted to get back hdre to tell you about the Speed Demon.
Bobby Cleveland and the lawnmower is here, hoping to make some runs yet today.
No idea on why the Ack bike was backfiring and running poorly, although at least the tire issue is fixed with their "lucky" tire.
Still waiting to hear when Scott Horner will run.

boy o boy...Ack must be fit to be tied...they had a tuneup in it in 08 that really ran...now buncha gremlins....its tough not to try to improve....
very doubtful to find another 70 mph...in the next few hours...
it would be VERY monumental....
Poteet/Main on the other hand...have the tuneup and the setup to "go big"...

Spectre is on the dolly and being moved to the far end for a run. Likely about 45 minutes before they run.

Ray:
Now that I've read all on this page, how about adding some Jeff Beck -- maybe "The Pump" -- to your soundtrack?
Jeff Beck is a very good idea...but The Pump isn't one of my favorites, although I could do it. But what about A Brush With The Blues or Roy's Toy (with motor sounds)? Or Dirty Mind featuring Imogen Heap (vocals)?

very doubtful to find another 70 mph...in the next few hours... It isn't a case of finding the 70 mph, they have run those speeds. It's a case of curing the gremlins that keep them from letting all that horsepower loose on the great salt dyno.
