Stan do you recognize that car ?  It was built out West and ran on the dirt a few times ??

Bill just bought it and had less than a week from the time it shipped to him to prep for Maxton,, I am sure that car will set many more records,,, (He took my D/CGALT record in his first event with the car)  But he should have,,, he has a REAL "D" Motor,,, I ran my E motor up in class to a 164.xx   he upped the record to 166.xx and I know he has more left...

Cool car and a neat team to hang out with.

Charles,

Thanks. I checked out the site and bought a few pictures. It is always good to support the guys that support us when I can. Thanks for the positive feedback on the car. I am happy so far.
We met a bunch of great people and hope to meet a bunch more in May. The records are fun but I just like being out there. Matt is finishing a Chevy II Turbo car for a customer then it is full speed ahead on his Supera. The goal is to have the Supera ready for Louring.
Charles, how is the E motor coming along?
Stan: thanks

Bill,  the E motor is out and being disassembled and cleaned now,,, Crank and Rods will be sent off for a new super finish.. new rod bolts, rod, main and cam bearings. Fresh hone and new rings..Working on heads and block a bit more... Flow bench work,,, all this should strengthen and add a few more HP...(bottom end prepped for some N2O possibilities) Should have done and back in the car by May 10th.  a few days to spare before we load up on the 12th.

New Helmet is here, so also be working on driver cooling system when I get back from the Cruise.. departing Tampa on the 1st.

Charles, sounds great. If you need a car while you are in Tampa call me. I will get you a loaner out of the Mercedes-Benz store.
I am pulling the gear out of my car tonight...I suspect it is a 3:55 and may run a 3:73 to get a little more out of the hole for Maxton. If it does not work we will pop the 3:55 back in it Sat. night. A general once over and we should be good to go. We will do some re-enfocement of the cage before Loring and Bonneville. After looking at some pictures of the 1973 AA Camaro on the other thread I feel my cage is not as good as it could be.
Enjoy your Cruise.

New 3.70 gear coming Friday from Moser. We are going to try that to see if we can get out of the hole a little faster and up to 4th quicker. If not then Saturday night we will be swapping center sections back to the 3.50 gear. 28" tire, 1:1 fourth gear. I was at 7100 at the 1 mile marker.

Bill that gear should work better... my guess with a good launch would be 175mph with the chip at 8,000.. that should add 9 mph to your D/CGALT record,,

I am hoping when we get the "Improved" E motor back together I am expecting for 177mph to 180mph with it... Just getting the little E  single carb N/A motor to 170+ mph will be an accomlishment in the standing mile.

Take care and see you in May.  I will call you when I return from vacation and am back in the USA.

Bill,

I just checked my gear charts and my data says your set up at 7100 RPM's  would be 168.98 MPH.  so we are close,, some times the 28" tires are not 28" tall and some times the rpm's are not exact. etc.. so your data and mine are very very close.

With that said, I think you are going to go faster with the shorter 3.70 rear gear.
My data shows at 8,000 would be 180.11 and at 7,800 would be 175.60

Now I "think"  your tires measure out below 28" like around 27.65.  and that changes the speeds a bit.
8,000 is 177.86   and 7,800 is 173.41

Either way you are going to go faster all else being equal...of course this assumes you can attain that RPM at the finish !!!... and I think you can.
