so has anyone tried using the quicktime bellhousing or is that one too thin and needs a blanket? it is SFI rated but i don't think its' 6.1 rated.

I am using one, though I had to modify it by cutting and welding the bottom and opening up the side for the reverse mounted starter for the REMR. Tony  |

That is the one I should have used, I did not know about it when I found out my QM was not SFI and a bit thin in a few spots. So to eliminate all doubt, I went with Lakewood, but did have ground clearance issues. (resolved for the most part now) Charles |

I ordered the Ford Fe to Muncie tranny, and ordered it SFI 6.1
Most of their bellhousings can be ordered SFI 6.1, and some can be ordered SFI 30.1

As far as I know that blanket deal is fairly new and really directed toward front wheel drive cars for which blow shields are not made. As you are running a BBC and blow shields are readily available I would expect the inspection people to what a blow shield. Before making any other plans I would for sure check it out with the responsible official and get a written confirmation of a blanket meeting spec.

And if a correct bell housing is available, it sure makes for a much neater, tighter solution.
