  Dan,
It's going to be another long Winter in Montana. It would be nice to see if what we did last Winter was an improvement. [A hat would be cool if it all worked out]. We're not there yet.
  Doug [6PKN 2 200] cheers

So just how fast does a British car with an Obsolete engine have to go to get the red hat Huh?

Is the Obsolete engine British?

Obsolete British engines were pushing cars over 200 mph on the salt LONG before they started handing out hats.

The MG EX 135 comes to mind.  1100 cc's - in 1939.

Now if you intend to put a Lincoln V-12 in a TR-7 . . . cheers

In the spirit of un-hijacking the thread, last night's weather report showed it was sprinkling/maybe raining at Wendover, and today the radar looks like the rain has just barely ended.  Does anyone have an on-the-scene report?

The Wendover report I'm looking at shows 30% chance of rain today. Then scattered thunderstorms and a 40% chance of rain for tomorrow.  After that, it looks good through the end of WOS.  Hopefully, it'll dry fast.  Last year, it rained and WOS looked unlikely on day one.  Everything was pushed back one day, the salt dried rapidly, and all was well.  Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I'm north of Salt Lake just a bit...and during the summer, what Wendover gets, we get a few hours later.

With that said there's a warm stiff wind that's been blowing all day long here.  If that holds true at Bonneville, what moisture the salt has received, should be drying very, very, very quickly.

Been heavy overcast in Elko (100 mi due West of Wendover) all day, started raining @ 8:40 PM. Forcast is two days of rain and clearing Sat. through next week. Strongest cell I've seen all Summer over Battle Mtn. right now, moving east.

Looks like Wendover will get a fair amount of wet stuff, enough to settle the Track. We'll have to wait and see how much runoff we get on the Salt from the surrounding Mtns.

As most of you know, about the same thing happened this time last year. The meet was pushed back a day and the track was pretty good. A little soggy in the pits maybe.

Just talked to one of my security people, he's at the Bend of the Road....light rain, nothing serious, should help clean up the salt...sounds like WoS is going to be busy with great salt to run on!  Good luck everybody!  This storm will pass through today with improving weather on it's way!!!

Here's what's happening at 1400 MDST:
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Wendover,%20UT.&wuSelect=WEATHER

Weather turkie this AM were making noises about rain mixed with snow in the mountains.
(Jon, did you pack your snowplow?) rolleyes

Seriously, as many found out at BUB, no matter what the 5 day says, if you have room for a shell parka, golf type wind breaker, or sweatshirt, throw it aboard.
Some were wearing all 3, and wanted to build a bonfire.

Jim

The heat wave of summer has broken folks. Pack coats and jackets for the early mornings. It is pretty chilly at first light these parts.....

Current storm total rain fall radar, shows the flats got from a trace to 0.1 inches of precipitation today near the course.
There was one heavier band for rainfall well east of Wendover but that should not be a problem.

As mentioned the forecast calls for lows in the high 40's to mid 50's this week.

I'm sure we will hear from USFRA as soon as they are out to start setting up the course.
