Latest report...as of 5 minutes ago....

NO WATER ON THE SALT!!!!!  All of the storms have gone around the course.  Salt is Hard and DRY.  The wind has been blowing for the last 4 days, with just a sprinkle of rain on Wednesday.

Just thought you'd like to know!

Now I'm seeing predictions for isolated t-storms on Tuesday, with a 30% chance of rain.   Let's hope it stays away!

Being from WA I don't get to see very many good thunderstorms, but a little rain doesn't scare me.

gabe, your right...

where is John N. when we need him...?..

seriously though...i can certainly see how folks will get excited
about the weather.....but hate to see anyone try to outguess the
conditions....some folks turned around last year on way and even
after arriving at salt for wos....some drove for over 3 days..and returned home
to end up following the fast speeds the rest of week being accomplished after conditions
changed on salt....

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

Nancy -- 201.913 mph record on a production ZX15!

Nancy and I are in Wendover.  As we drove in we had sorta cloudy skies but temps in the mid to upper 80s and winds from the ESE.  The cloudy skies sure remind me more of smoke from forest fires -- than clouds that might make rain.  It's pretty bone-dry here in town.  We did not go out to the salt, but as we went past Exit 4 Tom and Cathy Shannon's pickup was entering the interstate -- and it was not dripping, for sure, for sure.  The was some salt on it, but since Tom works way out there on the courses and this was a set-up day -- I will guess (note I say guess) that the salt is in pretty good condition.

We expect to head for the race course tomorrow morning and get set up to have fun for the next few days.  I hope many of you will be there with us.

For those that can't attend -- well, hang around the computers and I'll see that you get a few photos and some typed reports as the days progress.

See you on the salt!

PS  Sure is nice to be back out here where people know us.  I was registering at the motel desk and heard someone walk up behind me and say "Hi, Slim".  That was Bill York, who's here to help out on Rex Svoboda's car.  Then, as we were unpacking, Nancy said hi to Dan Wright, and then Bob Ragsdale moseyed over to howdy us, and so it goes.  It's good to be here.

Yep, I know what you mean Slim. After 22yrs it's kinda like a family reunion with race cars, but you actually like this family.
