A friend of mine is considering bringing his 07 Roush Mustang up to run in time only.  This car has a factory (Roush) installed supercharger.  Will he be allowed to run with just a Snell 05 helmet, cotton pants and shirt or jacket?  Or will he be required to have the same fire suit as supercharged cars that are running for a record?

Without a suit and roll bar he will be only allowed to run to 135 mph.

How much hotter do you think a fire would be if your running for a record instead of time only?

T/O is used a lot of times for testing vehicles that just don't fit into a class well.   Required safety equipment is required on ALL vehicles based on it's speed not it's class.  No Cage, No Firesuit, then 135 mph limit.  Blown vehicles do require a bump in firesuit requirements.   That's why I have a SFI-15 suit for a blown Taurus.

Tell him to get out his checkbook. There's plenty of time to get the car ready!
