Good luck Max, Stainless and crew. It has been a long wait, with a modicum of hard work, so I hope you go really fast! Regards, Gabriel.

Max and I left Denver around 730 this morning after waking up to a flat tire at 5.  Tire shop couldn't find anything wrong with it, resealed the bead and put in a new stem... were new tires a week ago.
We arrived in Wendoverabout 730,stopped at the Salt Flats Cafe for dinner and checked into the quality inn.  It has been raining a little, will see if any info is in another thread.

LOL!
I have had several people cuss me for steering them to Max's website.  "YOU RUINED MY EVENING, I couldn't stop reading it!!" they complained.

Stainless, I will definitely take 3 shirts (XL,L,S) if they are available.

Keep us posted best you can and GET THAT RECORD!

This time of the year is when all the wrench Monkeys,Gear heads,Salty Dogs and every other kind of beast makes their migration to the Great white Lake looking for their prey. Not just a simple meal but food that last a life time, where you can feed off it forever.many times on the journey they come across hardships of all kinds, flat tires, bad weather, stolen cell phones,to name just a few,but they continue,It`s in their instinct to keep pushing forward.Once there, they wait, and wait and wait patiently for the time to attack.

If you guys drink real beer I'll join you....  grin

The Black Lightning had a really good event, even though no records were set.  The bike is alive and we left it in Wendover for the WoS.  The clutch oil down was the only major issue of the meet.  We launched 5 times... the first for 2 miles, couldn't get the bike to shift... next a 205 that we thought was a little fat.. the third, after new plugs and leaning 2 steps oiled the clutch (plug read showed way lean)... went fatter and the next run clutch slipped in 2nd, went 198... Last run after more lock weight still slipping, 178?.... Could have used the rain and wind delay days but a good event for the scooter.
Great job by 99% of the volunteers,  our only issue was being the only bike in the long course pre-stage and being held for an hour (while the winds were calm) so they could sort out the short course bike line from the day before.  I finally pissed the guy off, he told me if I wanted to make up my own rules we should just go on down to the 0  undecided .... I thanked him and we left... Winds picked up just as we were about to start the motors.... we were ready to go and we waited at the 0 the remainder of the day.
Many many many thanks to Kurt at the 0 and Rex in the tower for trying to find us windows in the wind to run the last 2 days...
It was a great event again
Max and I talked about the clutch on the way home... called a few folks... doing more research... but will probably do WoS with some minor clutch changes.  Max has a few more folks to talk to...

Max is going to WoS with a 2 tiered clutch plan... one plan includes a new 4 plate design, Max is modifying parts even as we speak... the other is a clutch identical to the one used for several years, just new plates.
He is extending the lock arms for a harder lock and making sure the oil seal is retained from both sides.  John McDougall is making an inner retainer for the oil seal in Vancouver BC.  It will be installed when they both arrive in Wendover

Oh I forgot, we still have a few TShirts left, I have pulled one for all requesters and they will be available at WoS...  grin

For those that weren't at BUB, and won't be at WoS, here is a video from this year's BUB event.  Stainless took over the controls from Max for the starting drill one run, allowing Max and I to go down to the timing tower in the middle of the timed mile in the chase vehicle.  Gave Max a chance to see and hear the liner go by at speed, and gave me a chance to record it.  Thanks, Stainless.
