Note the front axle on our lakester. How did the salt get plastered to the front of the axle? We pushed the car everywhere so it did not come from tow vehicle. Maybe some weird vortex coming off the nose?

I expect Mike's about half-right. The salt is thrown up and forward by the rotation of the tires and the axle (and anything else) then runs into it as the vehicle proceeds forward. Check out the windscreen of our bike after a run.

Check your pistons, too. Could be 1/2 inch on top of them, too, it's been reported.

Stan... Stan... Stan... stop picking on the lad, I'm sure he will be posting pictures soon.
Willie, put a little air in 'em, it will keep the salt out

I'll check my pistons for salt. As soon as I find them. They did not make it home with us best I can figure. I'm pretty sure they were in there when we arrived...

Note the front axle on our lakester. How did the salt get plastered to the front of the axle? We pushed the car everywhere so it did not come from tow vehicle. Maybe some weird vortex coming off the nose? Typical reverse airflow on the front axle - an affect which comes from the kind of body design (nose of the lakester) and the wide axle design. This airflow is a reaction of the bouncing wave airflow between the body and the rotaring wheels.

BTW- I think the front tires are too wide. I believe they are 23 inches tall. Anybody have any other suggestion for front tires?

They are SR's. Notice anything "special" about them? I can't believe you posted a picture with "that" condition Rob! Sorry, I couldn't resist!
