Nancy -- 201.913 mph record on a production ZX15!

Ah, the excitement of Bub's -- bikes running on the international course (the far course) on a return run (left to right past the pits) - are turning and cutting across the mountain course - while it's in operation!

Bike 1987 return run starting  Aaron Wilson on '08 Sporty.  175.048 down run.  Sounds strong -- a little wheelspin, though.

Run ended -- hard to believe -- the announcer says this run was ALSO 175.048.  Glen, can you help us do the math on what his average speed would be?  Or do we first have to know the time elapsed?

Bike 241, Bob Duncan next, on return run, left to right,on int'l course.  1971 Triumph Trident.  112.6 down run.  119.8 return speed

Bike 1987 -- 170.938 return run.  Gee, that's a little easier to believe.  Glen, disregard earlier query.

Richard Assen, bike 519, on the int'l course now.  I'm surprised, after what they said they'd be doing -- waiting 'til morning.  Whatever -- 9 mph headwind for a down run, but maybe it's some test-n-tune time, hey?

Boogeying right along -- just passed the pits.

Mile:  185.553

Top speed of event so far - earlier today -- 205.5 -- not Assen.  Ann'cr didn't tell us who did that run.  Sorry

I see  Mike Geokan's "Bullet Project" is there. This can be one super fast harley bike. The aluminum body is just amazing. He ran last  year at Speedweek, goosed it a little much off the line and fell off of it at a slow rate of speed and broke a collar bone. A square profile front tire was an issue with steering and they had Nate Jones do some shaving and forming of the tire for a rounder profile. Its based on a 139" Orca Turbo Motor with the help of RB Racing. It is one to watch out for.

Jon, they were having another "scrutineering" issue with this bike when I took the photo.  Is the front wheel at least 25% open? - was the question.  The bike techs were going to measure the holes and do the math as I walked away.

Werner Miller is just entering scrutineering with his 150 Honda.  The rider is 14 years old.  Team GoDogGo.  First time here for the lad.

Kim Krebs just went 191 on the GSXR 750 -- she's from Australia.

Other photos -- of the bike that crashed a few hours ago, being returned to the pit:

Here's our favorite B-52 repairman:

Okay, as we were at Max's pit -- here's the bike with both Hartmut and Don, the pilots:

Who sez the salt is sticky?   Look at this ZX14R:

End of racing coming up soon, according to the clock.  Lots of bikes in lines -- don't know what'll happen at shutdown time.

5511  Leslie Porterfield on the course -- on a CBR 1000.  Slippin' and slidin' along -- wow, sounds like a handful for her.  177.661 mph.

Uncle Jimbo and his straight brother, Ron, stopped by and asked me to say howdy to everyone.

It's getting near the end of sunlight -- and didn't there used to be moiuntains over there towards Wendover?  Boyoboy, the haze is thick.  Still running, though.  Registration is closed 'til morning.

Next run on mountain course:  Bike 2006 == 127.239 mph  Yasu Watanbe, Huntington Beach.

Want to thank everyone for the daily updates for those of us that couldn't make it there this year. Sounds to me that the salt is just as dangerous was it was in 2007? Would you say that was the case?

Jon, speeds are calculated for FIA & FIM by the ET. SCTA - BNI and USFRA use the speeds that are converted. They are never rounded up.

I've put photos into the Gallery, and since it's new for me to do it -- let me know if you're seeing what I think I'm putting there, hey?

Two bikes -- Rudy, the Swiss fellow on a 'Busa, and a ZX10R, just each ran about 180 or so.  I guess that's about all the course will handle now.

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.
