Looks like Sam Wheeler's #999 is about ready. The tow is hooked up and stretched, and Sam is in the suit - no helmet, standing outside the bike.
Wind is about 4-6 down course right now here at the 1/2 mile.
I'm hearing the announcer say that B ub is still at the 11 -- which I will assume means they'll turn around and run back here. Cool -- mayber a record run is in the offing. New news: Bub is still "in the safety zone for streamliners" down at the 11 mile, so that means Sam can't run yet. I wonder if maybe there's an issue down at the 11 -- thoughts of the old days, when the chute didn;'t deploy properly and racers got stuck in the soft stuff down there. It's only a guess, folks -- you're welcome to wonder right along with me. The course officials say it'll be something like 10 - 15 minutes before the course is clear for Sam.
Sam's got his helmet on - -

That 2% number is correct, right? I don't know for sure -- and would be intereting in having it confirmed, just so we don't put out false hopes for the team.
Rick Gold closes up shop at noon today -- but your fuel now, racers!
Todd -- did you ever manage to figure out how to get some race gas to your shop for tuning?
Announcer: Course closes at 3PM, and riders are encouraged to get their qualifier runs done in time to take full advantage of the FIM two-hour turnaround time. But that's only an encouragement -- run whenever, but if you can't make the return before 3 you're S.O.L.
#999 is on the ground at the 1/2 mile, readying for start.
I don't know about the 2%, hell I think I got it from you (the blind leading the deaf?). Will Rick be at WOS I hope? If not and he has sealed 5's with him grab one for the trailer and leave sealed. If he's only pumping and going to be there for WOS ask him if he can bring a sealed 5 or two with him for us when he returns. They can ship it (but of course there's the frieght and then the chance of the spot they put us in last time). GO SAM GO!!!!Todd

Here's a question that was just posed to me in an email: Is the Bub #7 running in the same class as the Ack bike runs? Maybe there's not a need for a 2% or 1% or whatever -- maybe Chris and Bub are running on something different. Who knows?
Todd -- roger your comment. I'll check it out.

Sam's tow truck has started and is tensioning the tow rope. Bub is out of the way at the eleven -- no word on whether they'll return.
Canopy still open on #999. Engine not running yet.
FIM official vehicle moving into chase position.
Engine started on #999
Wind at 2 1/2 or less at all stations on the course. All courses shut down for Sam's run, just like the Bub runs. Stand by, folks.
