Scott -- it's not fact after all. They're in teardown right now, about 100 feet from me -- so i went and asked. 187 down, 185 return. Dang -- ONLY 186 or so average. As John said: "Displacement is over-rated."
I suppose now you're going to want me to have taken a photo of them measuring the bike, hey? Be right back -- don't bother to tell me to go.
Your wish is my command. Kent, I got your ad in one of these photos.

Lunch time and the updates slow down. Mike Akatiff tells me that 351 is great for the salt conditions. He is definitely not running. "We didn't event bring race gas!" So if his record is broken......his challenge to take it back will have to wait a bit.
Good to know!! Did Mike mention what he is having for lunch? or what color underwear he has on? Ham and Cheese. Pink hearts!!

Talking about the Ack bike -- Rockywas saying that this is the first time he's gone to an event with no intention of running. He's here to talk about the bike and to answer questions -- and to glad-hand the zillionsof folks that walk past. But boring -- lots of talk, no action.
John Rains just went 173.3 on his bike. I hear he's the fastest-ever ski racer -- has gone 136 on skis. And they say we racers are goofy? Whoa!

There was a guy and a gal that took turns mounting their skis to the top of Rick Vesco's liner a while back I think she ran in the 150 to 160 range and he was in the 160 to 170 range. The funny part of this story is the guy was really showing nervousness before the run. Well Rick picked up on this. Rick asked the guy how fast he wanted to go and he said something like 170. So Rick without batting an eye says "so if I look in the rear view mirror and see you laid back flapping in the wind do you want me to really stand on it and give you a BIG number". The guy went pure white and had to walk away to gather himself up. Classic Rick

The Bub bike, in the trailer, just went towing past on the way to the start line. It's 2.40 PM and they have to leave on a run before 4PM if they want to have the full 2 hours for a return run (assuming they qualify). So - I'll forecast a Bub run in the next hour or so. Stay tuned -- maybe I'll go back to the start line to give updates (and get your bosses all Plymouthed at me).
And also - the #1150 Team Arrow bike is about two vehicles from making a run. It'll be their first run of the meet, I think.

I have a bad feeling about this.... Good luck team Arrow.

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

Down at the Zero of the int'l long course. Manning's bike will start from here this time, not the 1/2. It's still in the air next to the carrier. Leslie Porterfield is being her own umbrella girl, sitting on her bike, awaiting her turn to run.
Rosey Lackey is sitting in the a/c of the chase vehicle, the bike is in the sunlight (but wearing an umbrella).
Leslie leaving the line on #1976.

Team Arrow Racing is mostly a new crew for this year except for Bob Williams the designer & builder. Gay Fifer the new crew chief and Dave Loyd the new rider.
Bob told me that airport testing went great and I know Dave is a very experienced rider will be able to ride the wheels off this thing.
I've been trying to call them but no answer.
Keep at it guys...we are behind you all the way.
And thanks to SSS and Nancy for working so had to provide us with all the info and pics.
Gary

Leslie, on the '02 'Busa, goes 210.4.
Ramsey on a V-Rod, on the course. Previous run was 157. This run he travels at 161.156. It was a return run -- gives him a new record of about 159++
