On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

Dale Gullett says they're working on the nitrous system.  They did lots of the "engineering" on the system at home and thought it was ready to jusgt bolt on -- unh, not quite that easy, I guess.   He says they'll run on the bottled yet today, though.

Mike

The car is Tom and Diane Mellors ride from Vancouver

It's a 1950 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn which I think belonged to his late father, reckons it's comfortable and economical and must turn a few heads on the highway

The photo is from 2008, if you look closly you'll see the bike has grown in length

John

Thanks!  I thought I recognized it.  The color difference in the year-to-year photography threw me.

No need for another pic.

Thanks again/

Mike

Slow right now -- going to the truckstop for a bite to eat, then back in a little while.

Lunch time and the updates slow down.  Mike Akatiff tells me that 351 is great for the salt conditions.  He is definitely not running.  "We didn't event bring race gas!"  So if his record is broken......his challenge to take it back will have to wait a bit.

Would like to hear how Sam found the course and how his run went.

Mike -- no worries -- I've filled my drink card.  No more for me.  Back from the truckstop -- pancakes are good, and Nancy had a taco plate -- should've had just plain tacos.  Too much too eat for a light lunch!

Kax, I've got a photo in here of a V-rod.  He had run an 88 the first run and then a 113.  He's in the R W B class -- don't know how many runs he's got left in his permission slip.

Bub was in the pits before we left for lunch -- Sam's bike wasn't back yet.  About his front tire -- it's carefully sheilded in the fender/front end assembly and not at all visible.  I'll assume that the wheel was, as reported here by others, the aluminum one.

A little while ago a rider went down on the international course - took out some timing light equipment.  The rider is okay, radio reports, and the lights are repaired and about ready to run that course again.

About 100 in the sun -- the thermometer in the truck says 104, but I discount it a tad for good luck.
