I erred -- sorry. I went back (and worked my way through the Swiss-German accent) -- the bike's top speed here this event is 208.723. "More tomorrow", I was told. I asked how -- the mechanic told me that it was not going to be more tune-up, but just a better track. We'll see. He asked, by the way, John -- what's your fastest speed. I told him you had run a 238 on your bike -- just trying to be modest for you but to let him know he won't have an easy time at bettering your speed.
You have run 238, right?

Jon,
Only 218 in 1.3 miles of dirt.
Thanks.
John
PS, how long is the run up to the timed section this year at Bubs?

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

Assen's crew is looking for a 'Busa oil cooler. Anyone got one handy out here?
Return runs on the int'l course are underway -- so the wind hasn't got too bad.
Bike 64 on the course. Ran 157.9 earlier, just now runs, with a fine tailwind, 164.824

John, the run up is a mile or three or five, or maybe 1.7, depending on whether you're left handed or wearing blue undies.
I'll take a photo of the course map and let you see -- there are a few different iterations of the course -- and I'll let you answer your own question.
Kent -- I keep hearing about the electric bike -- but haven't laid eyes on it for you. I'll redouble my efforts.

Maybe we'll see you, Bo. Nancy and I will be in Texas the weekend before WoS and returning by Monday night. When are you two gonna be here?
By the way, the announcer here at Bub's is mentioning Save the Salt quite a bit -- so I typed up a notice about your scrap to plaque project and asked him to have the folks here deliver broken stuff to me to give to you.

Scott dropped a tooth in his final gear and just ran 175.1 into a 6mph headwind. He getting ready to run the other direction shortly!

What I was gonna say, Randy. Scott just walked over to tell us the news. He's going out to run the backup now -- but will have a tailwind this time.
I hear the electric bike ran a 147 today -- maybe hurt some batteries. I'll try to chase it down. Back in a minute or three.
