On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

Glad to hear about Rob.. whew!!! Max, sorry to hear about clutch issue, hope you'll be able to fix and return for WOS, Shootout or WF? Jon... awesome reporting thanks and everything's coming thru fine. How did that blue Kaw do? Looks like same bike that was at SW. Tell Nancy to visualize her runs and get course feedback from "those that are in impound with 200mph bikes" You know this isn't helping any of us get work done out here right? Todd

Max Maybe the Strasburgs in Salt Lake can help, racers from speedweek went there for help and they are Bville racers and drag racers. Don't have # but somebody does. Its worth a phone call. JL222 Slim could you relay this message to Max?

Six States on 17th South near 3rd West in SLC does good clutch work. Strasburgs are in Lindon, UT, 35 miles south of SLC. Good machine shop but I don't know about clutch work there.

I got in two runs on the short course today. I got 197 on the last run but the fishtailing and tire spin were pretty severe. I was constantly backing off on the throttle. But the high point of the day was when I took my daughter into impound and then to have her record certified. She ran 131 on her qualifying run, then 137 on the return run. This was on my Honda CX500T which can't go that fast. Here she is. Leslie Porterfield watch out.
Don
Just found this in the pre-entry list: 566 Baling Wire Racing Delisa Bartholowmew 500-MPS-PBG Honda 1983 567 Baling Wire Racing Don Pearsall 1350-APS-BF Suzuki 2003 All racers deserve a name! So the daughter is Delisa and if I'm understanding correctly this IS a factory turbo pushrod engine. Very cool! (yeah I had to go look it up! ) Congrats again on the record!

The primary chain that links the two motors together broke. Because of clearance issues it took out the cases also. So they are done... Ack Attack crew offered beer.
Sam Wheeler is on the salt, he was at the far end checking things out...

Is Sam getting ready to run? Or is he just checking things out?
How is the salt? How is the wind? Dick

Okay, we're almost back on the Salt. Did a quick run to lunch and supplies. Wind was east at 3-5 aas we passed the windsock on I-80. I'll see what there is when we're at Land's End.
If you are enjoying the photos that Ray the Rat is taking (and I'm posting) -- please consider sending a donation to the site (use the Paypal button on the home page) and earmark it for Ray. I'll make sure he gets it now (not once we get home) to defray his personal costs for the work he's doing. He just called to say he's got more photos for me -- I'll post either on the Forum or in the Gallery (there are new ones there this morning, as well as yesterday's).
For that matter -- you're always welcome to say thanks with a donation to the site. Nancy and I appreciate them -- but, to tell the truth, the nice words from you are darned near as good as money (just not as negotiable at a store).
Mosre posts coming.
