We can we start seeing some pics and updates on the event.... They should be on the salt today.... Inspections... Pics... Who are the players for top time? Wheeler should be there running the EZHook Streamliner, I think Ack Attack is just on display... Aussies are there in full force im sure Richard Assen is likely top time for siton... Predictions? Assen 262 mph Wheeler 367 mph??? Just thought I would start the thread for updates.... Im working on the bike for WOS, just dreamin about being there... Info needed is Manning planning on running or is he holding out for the Private event.... I would think he would run the streamliner... but that depends on when Cris Carr gets there... JonAmo

Nancy and I rolled into town late this afternoon and will head for the salt in the morning. As he's already said, Ray will be taking photos and we'll be trying to post them in the albums here. Still having troubles making the thing work -- so the pictures might be on the Forum.
Rocky said that the Ack bike will be here for display, and it's already been said that Richard Assen is going to be a real contender for the top speed sit-on bike. We met a couple of racers in Smith's a little while ago -- said they'd all be at the Salt first thing tomorrow.
Nancy and I don't race at Bub's -- will at WoS in a few weeks, but we're here now just to help those of you at home enjoy the event as much as we can provide for you.
Let's go racing!

Since some racers are not attending and Richards bike is running better than ever yes he should take the $2,500.00 for the fastest sit on bike, I know after he saw the trophy from last year he is more interested in taking the FIM record and I wish him and his team the best of luck. Sounds like all the cards are in his favor. Get it Richard and team A-Ward! John

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

John,
last I looked it was only $1500 for fastest sit on bike. And $1500 for fastest bike of the meet.... I thought it was a larger number a week ago, looks like it changed at last minute.... Way down from the 1st year when it was $10000 for top siton bike of meet.

oh well.....
an opportunity to go fast.....
that is priceless......
i hope Bak and crew go real fast with the 3 wheeler........that would be cool.........
does he have an on-site interpreter...?...
latest check of event schedule shows racing should have started a few minutes ago at 0730....

BUB 7 will be running this week and at the Cook private meet. Chris is going to be in town Sunday night and be ready to race Monday morning. We have new tires (rated for 450mph) and two motors, so we are ready to go fast- Eric

WEll, well, boys and girls -- Bub's has started with the first runs. It's about 10.10AM out here and runs got underway about fifteen or twenty minutes ago. Ray's working with the photos -- to see how they'll get from his camera through this 'puter into the site -- but we're at it.
The driver's meeting ended about 9.30 or so, followed by a survey of the course by the FIM-entered vehicles. That parade was led by Team Bozeman -- in a tribute to Cliff Gullett.
Mike Akatiff has the Ack bike on display, but isn;'t planning on running it, he says -- unless maybe they do elect to run. He said Denis Manning reported some big cracks in the course that'd make it less than desirable for a fast liner. We'll see as the days progress. There's certainly more water at Land's End than there was at SpeedWeek. Not a lot -- but it was bone-dry thee weeks ago. Now there are puddles for the first few hundred feet. Take a look for yourselves.
The pits are crowded -- looks like hundreds, certainly more than dozens of bikes. We'll get some real stuff to you soon.

Don't you imagine that it's from the End of the Road to the pits that
"painted" it that color?
