Hooked on speed

I live in the area and heard nothing about it. Luckly we cought wind of it on the day of the event. But....how did this event come to be? Would love to hear the story!

Bangor Daily News had a small article about it when Bob Wanner (?) came up to look at the runway early on.

Looking forward to next year from eastern Maine.
