Target 550 will get one run Snday. Everything loks OK.

Just warming the oil will take several ours. Meet closes Sunday so we plan for maybe noonish.

After they run I'll come to the 6 and see if their wi-fi has enough horsepower to get a post made.

I won't let Landracing down.

Thanx for ALL the support.

We had the best light I have ever seen for a shoot on the car tonite.

Peter Vincent is hyperventilating.  Pork Pie left 5 minutes before Marlo asked if we could do it tonight.....d a m n I hate that.

Well lets get to it...........

Not a report that I want to write.  Midmorning Marlo was in line. I went to the 2 1/2 mile  to do fotos. Les never

got to me under power. At about the 2 they sneezed the front blower, big time pop and the chute was out as he

went past me. A lot happened. The rear engine had a fire and burned the mag, the plug wires and some hoses down.

Besides that, it blew a body panel completely off the left front corner. The parachute camera caught the panel as the

car drove away from it. Les was in no danger at any time. There are many questions to be answered but at this time

I have not asked them. I do not think the car will be ready for Speed Week. I'll just keep watching and listening and

when I know I well tell. I may post fotos tonight. They are in the camera but I still have other things to do. We are NOT

sitting on the fotos. They will all be shown so be patient. Wish I could have had better things to tell.

The car will go to Marlo's shop in Oregon and then to Hume's place for cosmetic surgery.

Certainly it's a set back but at this sage of this project there's no backing down.

Thanks for the report, Freud. I'm sorry the car got hurt but it's fortunate that Les did not. I hope it can be back up & running for Speed Week.

a set  back?  Not really when you look at the big picture.  Inevitably there are going to be a hiccups (like this) along the way.  There is still a BIG LEARNING CURVE upcoming and although many many years vested into designing and building her -- she is still a newbie on the salt and incredible patience will be needed in maximizing that potential with the talented crew you have.  Now start working on those answers to the questions and get that streamliner back on the salt... that is where she will write her ultimate destiny.

Freud, some times little unforeseen glitches are going to happen.  I am sure Les and the rest of the crew will get a handle on it. Hope you guys can fix it in time for speed week. Still very hopeful and wishing you the best here in Cali. Mark.

Are 'burst panels' legal on streamliners? Might be something to research.  I'm sure this team will get it right.

Vinsky, what is your answer when it already has 6 burst panels in

it and the manifold gaskets went before the burst panels?

Dan Warner says it's all in the rule book.

Vinsky,

Here is a link to the Target 550 website. This picture show a white unit on top of the blower intake manifold, and each motor has one. It holds 3 burst panels in a row, and as I remember the panel above it was made to blow off in case the burst panels did in fact burst.

PS. Here is what it looked like before being painted and assembled. You can see where the 3 burst panels attach.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Maybe the body needs burst panels similar to funny cars?

Hope you guys make it to speedweek  It's amazing all the grimlins that can pop up.
