Down to five minutes on the time window. Body panel still off the car. Sounds like they're cycling the air shifter -- still not starting.
Engine just crankded, fired - sputtered - died. Putting the body panels on now -- will try to make it run. Cranking the engine -- not firing -- THERE!
Looks like a steam engine right now -- wait'll we get Ray's photos! Musta put a bunchof starting fluid in it. THree minutes!
Off and roaring!

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J

Car wouldn't shift into second gear. Just got back. Bummer!
No one else seems ready to run. The snowmobile broke a belt/shaft/clutch or maybe all three, they were discussing whether to try again today or not.
Mormon Missile is still being worked on. Last time I saw it, one of the turbos was off but that was an hour or so ago.
BUB might run if the wind stays stable. Not too bad right now at the pit end.
Photos on the way.

Anyone have an educated guess (or inside knowledge) of how many ponies the Speed Demon is packing?

Some photos while I eat my sandwich
Mike workin on the Missile's motor.
A gorgeous Indian that was parked by one the pit areas..I forget whose.
The carbon fiber patch (there's one on the other side) of the BUB liner. They had to cut into the body to repair some fire damage after their last run at the BUB meet.
The Buckeye Bullet sittin. The same problem that plagued 'em last year: motor windings burned out. The motor is in SLC being repaired; should be back Wednesday.
Another batch comin in the next post.

Info on the four is all that is on the speeddemon site. However, CameltoeRacing says: "The new DemonFire V-8 engine is based on a Chevy “small block” 5 liter V-8 block with 4.125 bore and a 2.8 stroke. It has Dart “Chief” Aluminum racing heads and a Turbonetics 117 millimeter Forged Billet Ball Bearing Turbo capable of making over 2500+ HP and 50+ psi of boost." http://www.cameltoe.net/news_view.aspx?articleid=101Mike

Thanks for moving that post. We're back at the Zero -- meeting at 3PM -- about two minutes from now. I'll tell you what we learn -- if it's something worth hearing.
