Buckeye Bullet is heading down towards the mountain end to prep for a run. I talked with one of the crew guys this morning -- they use about 300 pounds of ice per run. It cools the fuel cell and the inverter. The motors need to stay cool -- start at ambient and get up to about 80C by the end of a run. 100C is where the motor starts being damaged. They don't have a cooling system, although they've kind of built a cool-suit device to wrap the motor during the turnaround.

"Got'Cha" was first run in 1974. Bill Temple entered both 2 clubs in 1976 with records in AA/BGR. At El Mirage 201.79 and Bonneville at 220.
In 1977 Greg Temple started driving "Got'Cha" and entered the El Mirage Dirty 2 club in 1979 @ 201.97. Greg went on to set two records at Bonneville, one in 1981 at 241.848, then in 1991 he set another record at 262.230
Bill and Greg were the first father and son to enter the El Mirage Dirty 2 club. They broke the D/BFR at Bonneville in 1981 @ 241 with top speed of 249. This record still stands today. In 1991 they set the A/BFR @ 262 which was later broke by Duane McKinney.

While we're all waiting for some news of any kind, I guess I'll put my two cents worth in. To paraphrase Mark Twain, "The reports of my Last Hurrah have been greatly exaggerated." Everytime Denis fires up Lucky 7 it gets the old adrenelin going again. If all goes well the Vincent streamliner, Black Lightning will be at the Mike Cook Shootout in 2010. I'm planning to by pass the Bub Meet next year. Max

Great to hear Max! When we get done obsessing over the salt meets & sending $$ to SSS & the Rat to ease our guilt we'll try to remember to hit that donate button to you every now & again in hopes that it will help you make it! You're kinda like the little liner that could. We just really wanna see you make a good show of it! Debbie

I just heard Chris was doing 340 or so at the 4 mile. I guess if the wind doesn't screw 'em up we may be in business, huh?
