We run a K&N dry on the lakester but it depends on your vehicle.... what you are set up for and  your requirements... and air filter will straighten turbulent air...

We run air filters from Spectre Performance. On our last run last Speedweek we removed the air filters but we made other changes also so we don't know if it ran better without the filters. I know, you are not supposed to make more than one change at a time but we were in impound and you know how that is, always want more speed.

I'll echo Stainless' comment about the K&N unit straightening out air. As yrs truly's mentioned on Landracing before, about 2/3rds of the Formula One teams use K&N, plus IRL

Don't forget, K&N became K&N FILTERS because the original owners wanted something better than the oiled/foam stuff of the day. They were motorcylists (Dealers, in fact) that rode California's DESERTS. Ya know, like where El Mirage is.

Thus they have more than one purpose.
