Didnt sell, reserve not met @ 6K+.

It would be cool to have it in a garage or to use as a pit vehicle.....but looks like it would be more work to get it race legal then it would be to start from scratch.

Flatheads also seem to me like your trying to paddle a boat with a damp pillow case as well.

Like hot nut said, cost more to make legal then to build a new one. Why to many things wrong with it.

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime.  His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.

Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all.

The way it goes with Ebay, someone will get high bid, win it, then refuse to pay up because the car isn't included. grin

I've seen either THAT hauler at Turlock or one just like it.

I really like the concept, the sort of 'out of the box thinking' that I love so much about hot rodders

That belly tank car is the absolute BOMB! I am in love... but sure, forget ever running it anywhere. I have a buddy with an old pumpkinseed bodied saltcar once raced by his dad 40 years ago, but he'd have to ruin it to add a modern and legal cage.

Disneyland <Anaheim> has a similar 'bellytank flathead wallhanger' in their California Adventure themepark, inside a tee-shirt store (decorated as a 1950's garage) near the Soaring Over California thrill ride. The car is a must-see if you find yourself at Disneyland with the kids...

"A FWD car hauler"
I've had this idea cross my mind, too. I've brought it up with lots of people,as in  basically how durable would a pick  up, originally a 4wd,  converted to only  only FWD Be ? If you removed the rear diff, banjo/axles, moved the tanks and all that stuff up forward, you could drop the bed less than a foot off the deck. American 4wd trucks are basically rear drive first, so how strong is the front diff ? Take it a step farther and widen the bed , maybe stretch it a couple feet longer, , and Voila !, a drive in race car carrier.

The late model GM 4x4's are IFS front axles are pretty strong.

On my GM's (2500/3500), the stock front axle (9.25 AAM) will support at least 250HP with no problems.  It freaks some people out, but when we drag race these trucks, it's done in 4x4, and sometimes with a electrically locking front diff.  I take about 1000 crank HP in a 6500lb truck, spool the turbo to 20-30psig with brake mashed to the floor, and when the brakes can't hold it back anymore, let it rip.  If the track isn't prepped well, it will spin all four tires through the first couple gears.  If the track is good, it will go high 1.5 to mid 1.6 sixty foot times on DOT tires.  The only serious problem was after 500 quarter mile passes, I blew the transfer case into schrapnel at about the 330' lights due to wheel hop, and a life of abuse.  But so far, no problems with the diff or axles up front.

I wouldn't think twice about running one FWD with stock HP levels as a daily driver to 90mph.

A rear-steer Pacer!  Must be hard to see where you're going -- especially if loaded with cars.
