Joe is right.Safety seals for fire extinguishers are designed to break at a pressure that is light enough to do the job,but not be so strong that a smaller,elder person could not break one. I would be happy to donate all seals needed to secure side stands for the motorcycles.As has been mentioned,the newer bikes are wired to shut off if not in the full upright position while in gear.Removing the side stand is of no benefit to the newer bikes.Perhaps a Mfg. date for factory produced bikes?Sorry guys--I don't get this one.,but that does not mean much. <small>[ January 02, 2005, 12:36 PM: Message edited by: Hank ]</small>

Soooooo, it was that Amo kid that carried the side stand aboard when it was not required to be removed. A side stand can allow a rider to quickly support the bike even if not on fire. The heat from the engine will make an otherwise ok rider sick while waiting to get picked up as os required with SCTA. The side stand allows the rider to get off and walk around or even sit down. I found that riding back helped to unwind everything, hovever abuse of the privilage stopped that with SCTA. Some even do a plug chop and carry the tool with them. An attached side stand can be done easily and avoids the pat down required if none is allowed to be carried aboard. The down feature in the wiring is available on many bikes but I don't want one down low around the salt. "It is funny how some rules are made and applied and some rules are just funny."

The Bub rules follow the AMA rules. The AMA is road race and dirt bikes. Side and center stands are no good for road race or dirt bikes. I use one of those triangle shaped drag race stands from Pingle that fit around your foot peg on my 750mpsg. I stick it inside my leathers before a pass. Randy uses one he clips it inside the fairing before a pass. I agree Joe… you need a stand. You just made a pass, it’s 200 degrees in your leathers your pumped up..... ya need to get off your bike and take your helmet off. Some times it takes forever before your chase vehicle gets to ya. On another note, Joe what did you do to Plymouth this Freud guy off?  He's bagged on ya 6 times for making a rule suggestion! not very nice! Yours in sport Kent Riches

maybe thats why I like the SCTA so much, I "really" like using my "center stand" if Judie finds out that it can be tied up, she would probably rather I run AMA... Joe

I imagine that yer centerstands are pretty well secured in Marquette this time of year, not many of them hanging down and in the way..........

On 9-27-08 we lost a great friend and fellow racer, he was the BEST, he helped anyone with anything at anytime. His name is Dave Owen and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have met him.
Seeing him at Bonneville during 2008 Speedweek was the tops, Dave was in awe of the salt and as usual was there helping out anyone who asked..simply put we lost a great man who will be missed by all. J
