754 Newbie - We had our pit set up next to Jay Allen from Broken Spoke Saloon, one over from Sean McAvoy & the Gates Engineering crew, and I think it was Larry Coleman and his red side car on the other side. 754 Newbie. Ronnie Scroggins and I were the Westlake and the white Buel next to our pit was a couple of guys from Chicago, Andy and Holeshot were their names, lovingly know as "the Chicago boys." They completly rebuilt the buel about two times, and still got to make a couple of runs.,..... Crow |

Crow, are you one of the B.C. guys? I didnt ride out last year, we went by truck.. had the MISTER tent set up beside Goldammer. I was stuck riding my Rusty Tanker Balloon bike, and we had the Orange Barstool too. ......................................................................................... When the pics were posted of them old streamliner bikes, one was from Big D the Triumph guys. Beside us (toward tech area) was a guy with a red turbo Sportster, he raced for big D in the 70s, cant remember his name. However he said he had made 6 runs over 200 that week (Bub 08).. pretty fast bike.. and it is heavy.. was surprised when he told me it was over 700 lbs!  |

In addition to Jon Monono outstanding Bonneville efforts (he had been several times over 250mph) he also competed as a great roadracer on Big D's Triumph's....................................
Kent, I kind of hate to admit it, (must be my age) but I have somewhat excepted the "wheel on a stick"
as long as it involves 3 WHEELS

A great bunch of guys. Warren Ryan likes to be called "W' and a very knowledgable person. They turned us on to a bunch of CalGuard products that they were promoting, which was very cool since we don't see that stuff here in the Chicago area. Hey Octane - I found a little info on that picture in reply 491 that you sent me. Its from 1972 and Warner clocked a couple of runs at 206 and 212 mph on the H.D Sportster. From what I understand Warner and George Smith (S&S) were the two that really started to put the Nitromethane into action on that old Iron Head Sportster. Warner was testing some of George Smiths carburetors and on the "Nitro Express" it had .240 Main jet and ran 92% Nitro. Mr. Freud..Sir, do you have any pictures of Bob Braverman's 1000c.c. 6cyl. (2 H-1 Kawa Triples
coupled together) drag bike. He had plans to run it at Bonneville....but never did.......................................................................................
