Mike, the red lakester has an "Offy" with a roots blower mounted on the side. They did a few like that even at Indy before the turbos became the norm.

"Twin-cam Pontiac 4-cylinder engine in the Baldwin & Sommerfeld Lakester. The DOHC head was designed by the talented machinist and pattern maker, Arnold J. Birner."
